I watched it on YouTube and think it looks good for a YouTube upload. I noticed some compression artifacts, particularly in the shadows, but a lot of that is likely the result of YouTube’s own compression. Did you export using Premiere’s YouTube preset? When exporting, if you select H.264 as your format, then scroll to the bottom of the list of presets, you will see the YouTube selections. That should get you the best result from your end.

Thanks for the shoutout on the YouTube comment 😉

An easy way to make sure your sequence matches your footage is to drag any clip onto the New Sequence button. This will automatically create a sequence with the same settings as the clip. You can then delete the clip and the sequence will retain its properties.

Ah, glad you found it. They don’t make it too obvious.

    Great! Glad it worked.

  • There’s a photo montage plugin that seems to do it for you. A little pricey, but if it saves you a lot of time, it should be worth it.

It looks like your sequence settings are wrong. You are editing HD footage on a SD timeline. Make sure your sequence is set to 1920×1080.

I’m very happy with the 2015 apps, but would definitely keep the previous version handy just in case. There are a few minor but annoying bugs I’ve run into so far (waveform won’t update without closing and reopening window, audio channels unmute by themselves, etc.) , but overall the improvements have been great. Watch out for plugin and effects compatibility too; I’ve run into a few that I’ve had to update and some companies haven’t released updates yet.

You can use CC Ball Action to get the circles. Then try a solid layer with fractal noise with the evolution keyframed to constantly change (You can use an expression like “time*300”). Set this as a track matte for your ball layer to get the sparkling effect. Hopefully that gets you in the ballpark and you can fine tune from there.

Most video hosting sites also recompress your video into several different versions that are then selected in real time for viewers based on device and network speed. Since it’s likely going to be recompressed anyway, I would export with as a high a setting as your video host recommends (Kickstarter in this case), and then let their infrastructure take care of the rest.

I agree with Peter that it is best to export a high-quality master, because then you can use it to make different versions without having re-export it from After Effects or whatever software you may have used.
