Which effect are you trying to do? I scanned through the video and it looks to me like she is just blinking in slow motion.

Glad it worked out! Yes, those files have preview files associated with them. If you make any changes to them, you will need to re-render them.
It doesn’t really explain why they needed to be rendered to begin with or why the export was failing. It could be the files were corrupt in some way, or just another bug altogether. Hopefully it was just a one time thing.

I mean have you tried rendering the yellow clips in your sequence. Go to Sequence->Render In to Out. It should turn the yellow line green.
Your exporting issues may or may not be related, but it’s hard to tell without more information. What are your sequence and export settings? What are your computer specs? What version of Premiere are you using?

I see Dave often beating this drum and I completely agree with him. If you depend on Final Cut Pro 6 or 7 for work, there is no reason to consider upgrading. The possible downside of no longer being able to access any of your projects far outweighs the upside of a few newer features that offer no improvement for Final Cut.
Every time a new OS is released, these forums fill with people running into issues because they wanted to be the first to update. I say be patient and wait for companies to work out the bugs caused by the new OS. In your case, don’t upgrade at all if you want Final Cut to still work since it hasn’t been supported in years..

Even if you do somehow get it to load now, who knows what will or won’t work once you bring it a clip or make a new sequence. You want a quick fix, but the only one guaranteed to get it back working the way it was before is to revert back to how you had it set up. Hopefully you have a time machine backup.
Support was dropped so long ago, I’m shocked to hear it works for some people in Yosemite. I’m always pleasantly surprised when the latest versions of Premiere Pro work in a new OS, let alone software from nearly 6 years ago.

The yellow bar means it may or may not play back in real time. Pressing Enter only renders effects and if the yellow bar is caused by something else (a codec for example), it won’t render with just the Enter key. To render it, you need to go to Sequence->Render In to Out (or Render Entire Work Area in older versions). I set a shortcut in Keyboard Preferences (command+Enter) so I can get to it a little quicker.

By marked yellow, do you mean the full screen that says “Media Pending” or the yellow bar over the clip on the timeline?

There is really never a reason to upgrade operating systems right away on a computer that uses professional applications. Give it time and let other people find the bugs.

If you are looking for the H.264 option, you now need to do it through Adobe Media Encoder. Instead of using the Render Queue, go to File->Export->Add to Adobe Media Encoder Queue.
