    You’re on the right track. You can draw a line as a shape layer with the pen tool and add a wiggle paths animator to it. Tinker with the settings and you can get something that looks pretty decent. Parent this string layer to your balloon to make sure it follows your balloon around.

    In addition to the 3D movement on the eye and a particle system of some sort, I see a lot of animated shape layers, Plexus or Nodes 2, animated text, grids, and a healthy does of blurs or depth of field. A shot of this complexity can’t be created with a single plugin or effect.

  • You can easily change nearly any function in Premiere to any keyboard shortcut you want by going to the Keyboard Preferences menu. Like Oliver mentioned, there are also ready-made presets you can select for Avid or Final Cut in case you are more comfortable with either of those program’s shortcuts.

    Of course I was serious. These are all pretty basic After Effects concepts. I suggest starting here to get a cursory understanding of the software. It’s a little dated now, but all the concepts are the same.

    I usually use a light blue solid above all my other layers, set the transfer mode to Add, and make it flicker on and off quickly a few times.

    Just to clarify, by “zooming in” do you mean scaling up the footage? If you are using a camera in After Effects to push in on the video, it’s possible you’re just moving past the footage in 3D space. This is likely not the case here, but you never know. Sometimes it’s the simple things…

    Particles will react to your camera moving in without you having to precomp it or anything. Have your particles on a 2D solid and and animate a camera’s position for your zoom.
