    Hi Shane.

    Just did exactly that.
Clip names are still the wonky name of the old sequence.

    Thoughts???

OK…I updated to 7.0.3 and restarted.

I open the project and the timeline and clips still has the wrong name.
Can I recover this one, or do I need to re-build it from my last version (8 hours of work ago)?

    Thanks, Shane!!!!

    Hi Shane.

I just read some of those forum postings about it.

    I recently installed so I’m 7.0.
I tried to use software update to go to 7.3, but FCP didn’t show up in my update window.
    Am I missing something obvious?

    Thanks!

Now I’ll just add that I went to the autosave vault and all recent autosaved versions do the same thing.
The main working sequence automatically changes its name to one of the other files in the project window. And there do seem to be problems with the timeline (like one of the audio tracks keeps going way off sync.)

  • Well, I did a google search and found others had the same problem.
They solved it by changing the name of the folder the files was being saved INTO (not the name of the file they were exporting). It worked for them, and it worked for me. Quirky bug, but nothing too bad, I suppose.

Shane. I was going to set up the 720/60 project to do a new transcode, and I only see 720/23.97 option (no 60fps). Am I missing something?

    Shane,

Would you recommend that I delete all the 720/60 clips I transcoded into the 1080/23.97 project, then re-transcode with a new 720/60 project?

    Thanks, Dan

Okay, I tried changing the format to 23.97/NTSC.

Set the pixel ratio to be 853 x480 (set to custom, not “same as source”).

Tried outputting once using the 16:9 square pixel (853 x 480) and once using Native Dimensions (853 x 480) and it still comes out squeezed to 4:3.

    Did I miss something?

    Hi.

My intended delivery is web (using Brightcove video server).
The video players are all 16/9 aspect ratio, and they do accept HD.
But because this is over an hour long speech, (and for web-playing purposes, HD is not so important on this piece), I usually downres the output to lower res. I always did that in FCP export for quicktime conversion. This would give me several widescreen resolutions to choose from, and they always would playback in widescreen.

So now I’m using AVID and the quicktime options look pretty much the same as FCP. But then the output is squeezed to 4/3.

I have the academic version of AVID, so I don’t think I have Sorensen Squeeze or Encore.

Does that answer your questions and give a sense of what I’m trying to do?

    Thanks, Dan
