Freaky Sequence issue
I’ve never seen this one before!
Somehow I mistakenly changed the name of my current sequence to the name of one of my clips.
Not sure how it happened.Now the weird thing: Every clip in the sequence has changed to be the same as the wrongly named sequence. So the sequence and every single clip have the same name.
I tried
• Copying and pasting all the clips into a new sequence with the same settings
• restarting the computer
• Changing the name of the sequence
• I tried putting a new clip in, it looks fine, it’s the proper name of the clip.I really don’t want to go back to my previous save sequence—a whole day’s work—and redo 8 hours of work. And it makes me nervous to rely on this wonky-named sequence (even if everything seems to be working on it otherwise).
Any ideas????

Now I’ll just add that I went to the autosave vault and all recent autosaved versions do the same thing.
The main working sequence automatically changes its name to one of the other files in the project window. And there do seem to be problems with the timeline (like one of the audio tracks keeps going way off sync.)Dan S.

That was a know bug with FCP 7 up to 7.0.2. Solved..fixed…with 7.0.3. What version are you running?

Hi Shane.
I just read some of those forum postings about it.
I recently installed so I’m 7.0.
I tried to use software update to go to 7.3, but FCP didn’t show up in my update window.
Am I missing something obvious?Thanks!

OK…I updated to 7.0.3 and restarted.
I open the project and the timeline and clips still has the wrong name.
Can I recover this one, or do I need to re-build it from my last version (8 hours of work ago)?Thanks, Shane!!!!

Well, sure, they won’t revert back. But make a new sequence, cut a clip into it to get the right settings. Then delete it, and copy and paste the clips in the old sequence into this one.

None. Sorry. From now on this won’t happen, but how to fix it when it did? Hmmm…
Do those clip names show up like that in an EDL or XML?

Okay…the xml didn’t work.
But the EDL did.
But all the media is offline.
So then I just have to manually reconnect all the media???Thanks again Shane!!!!!
