I want to rule out and understand all possibilities to resolve this issue. However, I do not know enough how to check the interlace at 1080 possibility. How do I assess this? The frame size is 1280 x 1080 with the same aspect ratio (1280 x 1080 HD 16:9) and pixel aspect ratio. Field dominance is upper (odd) and QT video settings are using DVCPRO HD 1080i60 for compressor.
How do I determine if there is interlacing in the clips if it is not a specific filter?

It is very hot, but I have used these flash effects for years and never had this problem. (I hope the image shows up and I am following directions properly). Plus, other clips with softened white are also having the problem now and then that do not have the flash effect on them.

Hey Nick,
I am trying what you suggested to find the FCP preferences folder but I can’t even find the MENU file/tab or anything called MENU to get started. Do I have to have FCP open? That is the only thing I have not tried (but to trash Preferences I have always had the program closed).“what changed is that Apples newer OS’s HIDE the Library folder from you.
to get there, go the the finder’s menu bar, Go Menu, and hold OPTION. The Library will then be revealed. navigate to:
Home Folder / Library / Preferences / FInal Cut Pro User Data”I am having a problem where a segment of audio track will not render.

About 6-8 months ago I tried to trash my preferences (after updating my OS to 10.7.5) and I couldn’t find the preferences. I inquired about it on an Apple forum and I was told it is not the same anymore and cannot be done without getting a separate program and doing it somehow from outside the system. I decided not to bother and I’ve since tried to find the FCP preferences with greater search focus. NO luck. I do miss this feature as it resolved a lot of issues.
You think my problem is weird—I think the missing preferences update is weird too.
Thanks for that idea too.

What I have done is isolated the tracks whose volume is being affected by the tracks around them—those would be the music tracks—and put them into a separate sequence with nothing around them. They are then independent. I then output them and they came out clean. Next I imported them into the original video project–played them to check for success and output the project in its entirety again. This worked!
As you asked, the tracks originally would jump if I started playing the project at a point 12-15 seconds ahead of the jump point. However, if I just played the video a few seconds ahead of the jump point, it would not jump and play through clean and smooth until the next jump point—and so on and so on.
With these computer problems I’ve realized over the years sometimes you just have to be smarter than the machine and work around the problems they create with their moody glitches and personalities.
Thanks again Gents for your help. JUst having people out there helps me think of solutions and not to feel isolated and alone.
I appreciate your time and attention helping me resolve my issues.

Clearing the audio render files in Render Manager did not clean up my audio issues.
The music selections are AIFF and WAV files to answer Nick’s question. I don’t get it. Nothing changed at all.
Any other ideas?

January 23, 2015 at 12:19 pm in reply to: “General Error!” Appears after Attempting to Render ProjectShane,
I’ve converted some of the files to Apple ProRes 422. There are some of them (special effects) that are alpha channel files. I converted them in MPEG Slipstream but I think the alpha channel character was converted out and now the clear background is black. How do I maintain the alpha channel character when converting the files?
