    hi kleoniki,
the best way to create/author a DVD is to prepare your assets before you start authoring.

    that means:

    1) export your movie as selfcontained quicktime-file to your harddisc
    2) encode your video/audio/menus with compressor to MPEG2 video and AC-dolby digital audio
    3) import your encoded video/audio-assets the the authoring-application and author

if you follow this guideline, you would have the best result. learn how to create menus using the button-overlay-techique, don´t use layered-menus.

    cheers

    hi,
have you used the button-overlay-technique or have you been creating yor menu using layered (PSD-)menus?

layered menus wont work on most players and they have a VERY slow navigation.

    hi,
try to delete you authoring-script-folder of your project-file, that might help. please make a backup-file first.

I´m not sure about that, it might be a bit different between MAC and PC, I´m a mac-user.

    maybe it´s a bug.

November 4, 2010 at 7:50 am in reply to: Copy protect DVDs from Encore?

    Hi Eric,
sorry, but that´s not true – with Rimage Systems DVD-R-Robots you can apply copy protection to a burned DVD.

@nina: you might look for someone who have a Rimage DVD-Roboter.

November 3, 2010 at 5:51 am in reply to: Error Setting up Transcoder (not answered previously)

    Hi again,
what kind of audio did you use? could it be possible that episode transcode your audio to mp2?

    according to your menu-problem:

I know encore CS3 have a bug with button-creation/button-overlays within menus.

so this may be your main problem.

could you please post a screenshot from your menu/button routing – it´s not quite clear to me, what you meant by that.

    cheers

    hi ryan,
as I´m in germany, we are allready in helloween + 1 day, so we are back to normal working-day over here!

why you think audio could be a problem in your case, normally all would be transcoded if it wont match.

what you´ve used? AC3 or PCM audio? multi-channel audio?

November 1, 2010 at 5:29 pm in reply to: Adobe Encore CS3 advice please

    hey dougle,
you need to learn the basics before you could start doing things like that.

I would advice to use CS4 or CS5 instead of CS3 because it´s very buggy!

    Hi Ryan,
first of all: Encore CS3 is a big mess. it is extremly buggy and I would recommend to use CS4 or better CS5.

so for your transcoded/untranscoded audio you should have a look at your project-settings. encore itself could only handle PCM or dolby AC-3 audio depending on your transcoding/project-settings.

as for all streams (video and audio) I would advice to use elementary streams.

October 29, 2010 at 6:51 am in reply to: Best format from Premier

    Hi Rich,
the best way would be to export your clips from premiere as a self-contained file.

afterwards import them into encore if you need specific chapter-marker and let encore encode the clips with the chaptermarker on the timelines.

if you wont need specific chaptermarker on a specific TC you an also do a bach-prozess within adobe media encoder to create your assets.

if you starting encore make sure your project-settings are 720p59.94 if not, all your material will be scaled to the selected format (1080 for example).

als be awared that you can´t use different input-materials with encore as the BD-spec normally allow.

all stuff will be scaled/transcoded to the selected setting.

and finally – yes, 720p59.94 is part of the BD-specs.

    oh,
    damed – you´re right!

sorry for my mistake – of course it is the left channel 1 that will be connected to FCP.

But (a2) is the connection for VO to your timeline, which audio-track on the timeline will be connected will have the VO-audio afterwards, that was my mistake.

That was far to early this morning – I had an very early shift today.

    cheers
