VLC Client is no licenced/certified DVD/BD-playback-software. it´s freeware that is created using open source.

if you would like to playback a DVD you should use apple DVD-player software or arcsoft player or WinDVD on PC or you should use a reference class A or B -tube monitor and a standalone DVD-player.

Jeff,
I know a lot bugs have been fixed in CS5 if you compare it to CS4. – there are still a few bugs, but you can use it right now.

CS5 can also create BD-interactive (Interactive Graphics).

if you need to go for replication, or you would like to extent encores ability, you can use blustreak tracer or tracer CMF.

you need to buy ARCSOFT media theater or WinDVD to playback your BDs. windows media player wont do that, because it can´t decrypt the AACS encryption in the disc.

did you use encore on PC or mac?

there are several issues why this could happen, I guess – but I can´t give you a hint on that, especially on PC, as I´m on mac system.

in general I would create a disk-folder first before I start burning a DVD or creating a disc-image.

and you don´t need to create any DDP-image unless you would go for replication with the disc.

be sure all timelines have got assets, check encores “check project-window within the built-tab for other errors.

there should be no reason why your audio getting out of sync.

could you please give us a bit more details about the project.? is it a single film of 6h10, or are there seperated clips.

which video-and audio-codec did you use? MPEG2, H264, PCM or AC-3?

have you checked the original file if it is in sync?

well – I don´t like encore very much, but it´s the only authoring-tool for BDs on mac available that´s worth to talk about.

encore has too many bugs and also to many limitations, but using blusteak tracer or blustreak tracer you can extend it´s capability.

I know all professional bd-authoring-tools and have worked with all of them (exept sony bluprint).

my favorit is DVD Logic software as it has a very good price and it´s easy to use, but this is also PC-soft only.

as a lot people have been frustrate with the last release of FCP (including me), I´m not sure if we would see a new authoring-tool from apple.

what a shame – nearly 80% of all replicated DVDs have been created using DVD SP but now apple decided to set FCP to EOL.

yes, if you would like to create an international BD-project you can choose:

1080p23.98, 1080p24 or 1080i30(29.98)

I haven´t said, that 25fps is necessary to use for countries that broadcast in 25fps.

mandatory written down in the BD-spec as follow:
1080p23.98, 1080p24, 1080i30(23.98), 720p60, 720×480 (NTSC-SD).

for these coutries that broadcast in 25/50fps they have extended the BD-specs, so for these countries the hardware must playback 25/50fps as well.

(example): for europe and australia mandatory as well are:

1080i50, 720p50 and 720×576 (PAL SD)

so – if you need to create a BD that should be playable all arround the world, you must use one of the upper framerates and no PAL-framerates.

the all will be playbacked fine on the players over here (I am in europe) as well.

all NTSC-framerate would be played worldwide, but 1080i50, 720p50 or PAL SD are only possible to playback within europe, africa and australia, (all Region B-countries).

you can relax.

your 1080i30/i29.98-material will play fine in BD-players all arround the world.

you would get in trouble if you have any 25/50fps-material on disc, that´s only mandatory for coutries that broadcast in 25/50fps.

these discs/clips wont play anywhere else in most cases.
