Adobe Encore CS5 – Blu Ray 24p PAL
I’m trying to create a 24p PAL Blu Ray. My production was shot 24fps and mastered 24p.
Unfortunately the only option in Encore for 24p is NTSC. Ideally I’d like to have it as PAL.
I was unaware that Blu Rays were PAL or NTSC. I thought the regions were either A, B or C.
Any advice or suggestions would be great.

Hey Doyle,
1080p24 is a part of BD-specs that felt under the order of NTSC.BD could contain the following formats (all at the same time):
– 1080p23.98, 1080p24, 1080i50, 1080i60
– 720p50, 720p60
– 720x576i (PAL)
– 720x480i (NTSC)it´s different what you might know from DVD, where you can have only PAL OR NTSC.
but be awared that int. BD-players wont play 25/50fps as this is only mandatory for countries that broadcast with 25/50fps.
so best way to go is 1080p23.98 or 1080p24 if you would like to create an int. production.
encore is doing it a bit different as the general standard is, but you must live with that.
region code A, B, C is only available if you create a BDCMF for replication.

Thanks for your advice.
I think my confusion arose when I had to select NTSC or PAL when beginning the project. I assume an NTSC 24p project is the best choice for an int. production?

yes, if you would like to create an international BD-project you can choose:
1080p23.98, 1080p24 or 1080i30(29.98)
