March 12, 2010 at 9:36 am in reply to: High Quality MPEG 4 file with low Size – HELP

[Sachin Desai] “i need low file size but i don’t want to loose quality”

Everybody who works with video has exactly the same goal!

[Sachin Desai] “what settings should i use in apple compressor or any other program. “

Do you seriously think you’ve given us anywhere near enough information to go on?

Have you read any of the other post in this forum

Have you tried starting with one of the presets and experimenting?

Generate some test files with rates between 2.5Mb/s and 7Mb/s. See how you go.

    [Nick Howard]
    “Format profile : Main@L5.0
Format settings, CABAC : No “

    Why no CABAC?
    I’d say High @4.1 not Main @5.0

    “Main Profile (MP)
This profile is used for standard-definition digital TV broadcasts that use the MPEG-4 format as defined in the DVB standard[24]. It is not, however, used for high-definition television broadcasts, as the importance of this profile faded when the High Profile was developed in 2004 for that application.”

    What’s the GOP size?
What are your VBR settings? (Average, low and upper)

[roberto pierson] “wich one should i stick with because i want this to go festivals so it will play on big screens so it needs to be the best as possible”

Your decision will be based on what formats the festivals can handle for playback.

March 11, 2010 at 10:51 pm in reply to: PMT and PAT questions

[marcus ionis] “How does this affect the server?”

It doesn’t, each ‘network’ has a preference.

[marcus ionis] “How can I verify if there’s accurate PAT & PMT data? Where would I look? “

There are a bunch of tools you could use: e.g.
    https://www.manzanitasystems.com/mp2tsa.html

[marcus ionis] “Are PMT & PAT only for delivery to servers or does the end used these feature? “

How long is a piece of string?

Seriously, do you think you provided anything like enough information for me to have given anything like even an educated guess?

[Paul Ray] “Does deinterlacing the clip in FCP make it progressive? “

Don’t deinterlace in FCP. Do it in compressor.

[Paul Ray] “Even eye movement by my actors is causing a blur/pixelation on the DVD.

Sounds to me like you’ve reversed the field order?
