It does. just not all the time for all people. It always works for me, but I choose not to use that method.

It can, very well in fact. (Tip: always use the ‘Best’ setting in frame controls)

So you think that a company that licences a whole bunch of codecs and formats, pays developers to update it and sells it for $599 can afford to have support staff sitting there waiting for the phone to ring?! They can’t be making more than a few dollars on each licence they sell.
How come you didn’t try out Episode? IMO, a mile ahead of Squeeze.

Very simply. Just copy and paste the sections together and then save as a new self-contained movie.

You encode each part separately and then ‘stitch’ them together in Quicktime Pro.

Try using the Noise Removal filter in compressor, found in the filters section of the Inspector.

Personally I’d just a variable bit rate (VBR). Far less hassle than what you are proposing. Or at the least stick to one codec and encode at different settings if the scenes vary that much.

Temporal noise reduction filters can cleanup stray pixels but take quite some time to process.
Quicktime movies can contain any number of different codecs within the same .mov.
The question is, what are you trying to achieve?

I hear what you’re saying, however I’d have to say it’s more than likely the Squeeze implementation of the MC SDK that’s the problem, as there are other transcoders and encoders (Carbon Coder, Anystream etc) than use the MC SDK that don’t suffer from this problem. AFAIK.

You have to go with H.264. Sorenson 3 requires Quicktime and not all PCs have Quicktime installed.
As for exact settings for H.264 compression, that’s almost impossible to give you based on the information you have supplied us
