[Josh Figatner] “I’d really like to go with the wmv but I’m sure a lot of you may disagree… “

I would too. Go with MPEG-4.

[Stephen Vilas] “‘I’ve used the highest settings available “

Yea, and what other ‘highest setting’ did you choose?.

compressor has some settings that will make things take weeks to transcode.

  • Export from FCP as a Quicktime reference movie. It’s very quick and there’s no recompression.

    Ok,

I’d suggest contacting Apple for support.

[Fred Connors Jr.] “It appears, visually, to be interlaced because every other line of active video is offset form the previous line, the very definition of interlaced. “

Can you post a screen shot?

May 5, 2010 at 8:22 am in reply to: Convert MOV. to AVI

MOV and AVI are just wrappers, containers. They can contain any number of different codecs ranging from uncompressed to very very heavily compressed.

When you exported your clip from FCP to a .mov you had to choose a codec. It’s the same with AVI.

Obviously you need to find out what codec to use before delivery.

Most people who just ask for an AVI don’t really know either….

[Eric Holzapfel] “just moved the out point down a few seconds, no video.”

Did you fill the gap with a slug (section of black/blank?)

WHY oh why are you trying to interlace it!?

[Fred Connors Jr.] “We cannot determine if the file is Lower or Upper field dominate but the video appears to be interlaces, “

How does the video appear to be interlaced?
