As far as I know you can’t. Droplets are specific to your machine, cluster, network etc.

If you want settings from somebody else, get them to send you a compressor setting and create a Droplet from there

Compare taking a bunch of screen shots in Windows to OS X, without a 3rd party application. It’s laughably stupid on Windows.

Amazingly Windows does not support DVD playback natively, it relies on 3rd party software. The Mac OS has had ever since DVD players became an option.

If your clients users don;t have the ability to view DVDs then it’s likely that the rest of the video capabilities of their PC will be crippled.

You are best of asking your client to find out what they can accept, rather than taking multiple stabs in the dark and wasting your time.

If you can’t do that then your best option is to produce high quality MPEG-1. Pretty well anything than can still be powered-up can play back MPEG-1!

If QAR = Client review then you could look a stupid amount of time to get this project done. If that’s the case don’t do it for a fixed price.

Not sure why the client is asking for Digital Rapids but anyway it’s a turnkey Hardware/software solution which happens to have some of the best hardware deinterlacing around.

You seem to be getting some answers from the other forums but I’ll add my bit:

I too prefer to use Mac over PC because Mac just works and windows is a horrid insult, but in this instance you need a workhorse, cheap, and there are a bunch of PC options out there that aren’t on the Mac.

If the client insists on Digital Rapids, you have no choice but to get it and charge the client accordingly (and re-use the kit for future projects, it’ll fit right in).

I don’t want to teach you to suck eggs but:

1700 hours of Beta SP will take you at least 2000 hours to ingest to a realtime transcode. (Tape Cue/rewind/etc)
Add to that 3000 hours of total QC processes

I’d do a deal at £30 per hour, or call it a deal at 2.2million South African Rand…

You are doing nothing wrong.

720×480 is a non-square pixel resolution (for TV) – the square pixel resolution (for computers) is 640×480.

There is most certainly a difference in Gamma but having looked closely I can now see the smoothing effect you are referring to.

Are you by any chance resizing the clip in the flash player or are you transcoding to the exact delivery dimensions? And what frame size are you using?

Coding a player usually refers to writing a Flash player or taking one of the free ones out there and skinning it to his liking.

Not the job of an editor, for sure.

This is almost certainly the extremely well known Quicktime H.264 Gamma issue. There’s no real solution but tons of published workarounds.

We’ll likely see a fix from Apple with the next release of Quicktime; in Snow Leopard but it’s not certain.
