As far as I’m aware no. Is there a way to change the frame rate of the audio to differ from the frame rate of the video? The video is shot at 1920×1080 @ 25fps.

Damn! That was a matter of seconds! And, yes, your solution is the simpler and quicker of the two. Good work sir. 😉 I do indeed need to invest in your chosen brand of caffeine.

Double click on the first clip that is the incorrect size, in Basic Motion change it’s scale back to 100% and it’s aspect ration to 0. If that worked to fix the problem, copy the clip and paste (Alt+V) it’s Basic Motion attributes onto the clips that are incorrect. The probable reason this happened was most likely due to incorrect sequence settings on the original sequence the clips were copied from.

Thanks Sascha, can’t believe it was that simple. My next problem however is this codec is now contained within a quicktime wrapper. I’ll need to test this but I have a feeling the system they’re using (Ardome) cannot import .mov’s (they seem very anti quicktime in general). Do you know of anything that can re-wrap this quicktime in an MXF container? I know of mxf4mac but there doesn’t seem to be a trial version available to test.

    Thanks!

Okay, that’s what I was curious about, the information stored between Beta SP and DV. Thanks all. You would not believe the facility demanding DVPal conversions is one of the top post facilities in the country… It explains why our TV is of such shitty quality! I’m going to pass this thread on.

    Thanks again.

I’m by no means an expert but I think what might also help is by Exporting using Compressor. This way you avoid compressing your footage multiple times (and losing quality at each step), once out of FCP and then again in Compressor… Try exporting your clip in compressor using a highly uncompressed codec like 10 Bit Uncompressed or the like.

    Hope you come right.

Thanks so much. I guess I naively figured the dvpal codec was sufficient for a standard tv quality AV but why not go better…

Can I however ask why it is that my dvpal quicktime looks fine, clear and sharp in Quicktime but in my viewer in fcp (and monitor) it looks horrid? Especially the text?

Thanks for your help guys, the re-exports as prores have made all the difference.
