Using Walters method you can cut the clip up in one sequence in Premiere and then import that sequence into AE. It will create a comp with all of the edits separated into layers in AE. No sub clipping needed.

Or you could just import the clip into AE and cut it up there.

  • I have been dealing with this same issue for more than 2 days now.
It popped up out of nowhere on Friday. ALMOST any project gave me the same issue.

I tried everything I could think of.
    repaired permissions
ran disk warrior on all drives
    trashed prefs
    cleaned cache files system wide
    scanned for corrupt clips
    tried to repair xml
    uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere Pro
    deleted Premiere workspaces
    punched myself in the face
    etc.

Some of the above seemed to help for a little while and then would go back to it’s previous state of frustration. I would get about 4-5 program closes (I was closing frequently to troubleshoot) before I would get Premiere either refusing to quit or unexpectedly quitting on close. Throw in a serious error from time to add to the fun and you get the idea.

I Finally uninstalled CS6 and reinstalled the entire suite today.
Seems to have worked so far. Fingers crossed.
You might want to give it a try.

October 31, 2012 at 5:40 pm in reply to: Batch renaming AVCHD files for Premiere Pro CS6?

I just sent a feature request to Adobe to show the original file path for offline media when trying to reconnect files that Premiere thinks have gone offline.

For our shop, keeping stuff organized at the Finder level is easy. Every project has a folder structure we follow. Part of that includes Footage folders broken down into Camera_Date. Redundant file names from different shoot days or cameras are now separated.

Once you import these files into a project and start reorganizing, renaming and sub clipping into new project bins is when things can go to hell. Premiere does a good job of remembering what the original clip name was and where it was for reconnecting on project open. But say an editor moves a project folder to another drive, Premiere may think the files are now offline, even if the project folder hierarchy is still still tact in the finder, and will only ask for the original file names. With several files in the project with the same name it is almost impossible to know which files it is actually looking for.

Having Premiere ask “where is file PROJECT_NAME/IMPORTS/FOOTAGE/CAM001_10292012/PRIVATE/AVCHD/BDMV/STREAM/00010.MTS” instead of “where is file 00010.MTS” makes reconnecting much easier.
FCP could do it. I assume Premiere could be made to do it as well.

August 31, 2010 at 1:34 am in reply to: Problem with T2i

I can’t see the video but I’m going to guess from the description that it’s oil from the mirror mechanism.
It’s a known problem for some of the the other Canon DSLRs. The mirror mechanism is over oiled during production and the oil is flung onto the sensor. They don’t admit the T2i has the issue apparently.

I’m on my second T2i in two days as a result of this. The first showed 4 spots within hours. They looked like small water spots.
I exchanged it for another T2i.
The second one is also showing these spots after a couple hours of shooting.
This one currently has 9 spots that are most obvious when shooting in movie mode.
My issue looks identical to the pic in the Canon service bulletin.

Anyway, here is the info on the issue with links to Canon’s service bulletin.
I chose this link because it links to multiple Canon websites that address the issue.

    Hope this helps.

Great news Chris! Thanks for trying it and reporting back.
This camera has really caught my eye, especially after seeing footage.
How do you like the A1?
