for extrusions it might be worth getting the trial of cs3 or (i think it will work) cs4 and use this fab custom preset by maltaannon: https://maltaannon.com/articles/after-effects/studying-ce-shapeextruder/

used it loads and it works really well!

  • right i solved the problem, thanks dave for the reply but it wasnt that,

for some reason one layer didnt have a 3d switch on in the precomp,

even though it wasnt the layer that was casuing the problem, that seemed to be the killer.

Many thanks though Dave you do a great deal here!

can you go through the “stuttering” process in a little more detail, what process within time remapping do you do and what is this toggling-hold thingy.

Sorry about the amateur questions i just dont really use this part of the program that much, but i want to 😉

    Many thanks!

I’d key out one shot at a time, if you have different angles and such, it will be likely ( if not inevitable) that your shots will be lit differently and so I would do the shots separately.

Perhaps even render them out preserving the alpha in QT format, bring them back in and work with the shots from there, it wont process it as much and may make it a little less time consuming.

    Any thoughts anyone?
