How is Resolve set up for reading your Reel IDs?
    What is your source footage?

    Hello there,
You need to commit all multi-cam edits in AVID before you export the AAF.

Doesn’t all H264 Canon footage look that way when you apply changes to the contrast and colour?

[Tom Daigon] “If you want to communicate with Adobe do it here..

This forum is mainly populated with users with infrequent visits from helpful Adobe personnel.”

    I have done that Tom.
    Thanks again.

It’s nice to hear from other users that are experiencing the same problem. Nice to know I’m not alone.

[Robert Brown] “I do think that’s a disaster in PPRo. I had a huge project with tons of MTS files. All of those files have the same name! It took forever. There needs to be a media manager that will put the files in a managed folder that has the option of giving them unique names. “

Completely agree!!!! It is a very big issue.
Especially when using folder structures based on REELS. PPro does not scan more than one folder at a time which means much time is spent reconnecting individual clips.

Can anyone from Adobe comment on this?

    Done and done!
    Thanks for the link Tom.

  • Thunderbolt only supports 4 PCI lanes. The following is on the Sonnettech webpage.

“The PCIe slot will physically accommodate up to a x16 PCIe card, however the actual electrical bandwidth of Thunderbolt is x4.”

[Peter Berg] “Maybe you wouldn’t find it helpful.. but I know I sure would. And if we want to see this work, then I would love for the Blackmagic team to take a look at this issue.”

    Totally agree!
It should work and there have been times where a solution to this would have been very, very helpful.

Anyone from Blackmagic care to chime in?

    Peter,
No argument re: EDL when linking media that is offline in AVID. We have had no issues here doing that, which is why I believe it’s an AVID AAF issue.

I have successfully relinked many projects via AAF in Resolve that were cut in AVID. Editorial has always used MXF (DNxHD 36) derived from either R3D, Arri RAW or Arri ProRes. We always relink back to the original media (R3D, DPX, ARI, PRORES, etc), therefore every project needs to be relinked to the original media.

The only time we have ever had an issue with AAF files is whenthe media is ‘offline in AVID.’ The metadata looks the same in the conform / EDL window in Resolve, but something in the AAF file is not the same. The only difference between an AAF that works and doesn’t work is whether or not the media in online and available in AVID prior to making the AAF. That would make it an AVID issue IMO.

Media Available in AVID prior to exporting AAF = WORKS
Media Offline in AVID prior to exporting AAF = DOESN’T WORK
Media Available or Offline in AVID prior to exporting EDL = WORKS

The fact that the EDL works shows it’s a metadata issue the originates in AVID. It has nothing to do with Resolve.
