I think this is more an AVID issue than a Resolve issue.
Based on my experience where the media is offline prior to creating an AAF in AVID, the media has never reconnected in Resolve. Sound to me like there’s an issue somewhere with the AAF metadata.

Best case is to get the editor who has access to the footage to create an AAF.

Yes, Resolve will link to the media.
In the Media Pool you have to ‘Change Parent Directory’ to point at the new location.

    Peter and Chris,
When you make the AAF in AVID, are your files still available locally or are they indeed offline?
Before you import the AAF in Resolve, are you populating the Media Pool with footage?

If you are using multi cam edits in AVID, you need to ‘COMMIT MULTI CAM EDITS’ before you export an AAF. Also, your Reel ID’s in the media have to match the Reel ID’s in the AAF / EDL.

AVID… what’s the deal with charging an additional $500 for a .5 upgrade?

    Speedgrade is an amazing tool.
Colorista is more a colour effect, where Speedgrade is a professional grading solution.

    I agree with Dmitry.
If you are doing projects for the web or TV, probably good to start with one of the RedColor / RedGamma combos. RedLog and RedLog Film are for deliverables that can project wider ranges of colour and gamma. Using the log gamma as your starting point and creating a different curve for each clip is a recipe for inconsistency and choppy grading.

Stick with what works. If you need to use a Log space, then create an output LUT to get you where you need to go.

    Two questions with new version.
At NAB I was under the impression that V9 would allow you to generate new timecode for media and that there would be a contrast / pivot control.

    a. Can you generate new timecode and export individual source clips? (e.g.: adding TC to Canon)
    b. Is there a contrast / pivot function? Or is that the offset function?

We’ve had no issues with Open EXR’s.
We did our homework to find the right colour pipeline from camera to Nuke to Resolve.
