Ok. But bottom line is there is something deeply wrong that unless you continue to subscribe you loose access to your own intellectual property.

I remember Final Draft had a free program that allowed anyone to be able to read Final Draft scripts.

There should be a way that a former subscriber of Premier can read and export the projects and media to other programs or quick time files or whatever.

Or some sort of contract where you own a given version of the software but do not receive updates unless you continue to subscribe.

That looks really good, Joe. Any chance you could do a screen capture tutorial of those steps? I knew the skin looked too red-yellow and I know that blue-cyan/red-yellow are complementary opposites; but what a difference.

Still don’t get why the color board doesn’t show the complimentary opposite on the bottom half of the hockey pucks line

How about if you want out you just can’t edit with it but you can open projects and export them to whatever codec you need or to other software. not being able to open your own intellectual property is anti-democratic, anti-free-enterprise.

Or maybe just allow end users to buy the current version of the software for an additional fee. Kinda of like buying the car you have been leasing.

If the company continues to innovate and make the product better, most of their users will keep paying the monthly.

The Mac Pro is long in the tooth. When it first came out it got attention and promotion. And they did mention FCP X as an app of choice for it.

Forever is a mighty long time.

Though I balk at paying a monthly fee for software. Because that’s not a slow transition but immediate.

I think the best quality is to stay with the original aspect ration and codec.

Not a huge fan of having multiple libraries open in the browser except when I want to copy footage between them. I routinely find myself closing those extra unasked for libraries. And don’t tell me people don’t mistakenly import footage to the wrong event due to this default behavior.

Thanks Jeff, I agree. But this is happening on more than one and different brands of raids and more than one Mac (though all the same vintage).

How common is problems with the thunderbolt hardware? Is it fragile? Do you mean the ports or some other component of the system?

Its been stressful.

no one of the pegasus drives developed similar symptoms but pegasus utility according to customer support told me there were bad sectors on one of the 4 drives. It was raid 0 so the whole raid failed.

But on both of these different raids when it gets unmounted like this the Mac also starts to reboot itself intermittently . Very weird. I really think it’s a thunderbolt issue.
