Give me a break Dave. If he were to distribute the file (such as in a commercial or movie like you said), that would actually be illegal (copyright infringement). Illegal means against the law. What you are talking about (using software you bought however you like) is an End User License Agreement, which is a contract that is sometimes enforcable by courts, sometimes not. However no contract is law, they are only contractual obligations.
Ken, search your adobe folder for wav files. Not that complex, especially for an AE user.

Can you play it with other viewers/players?
I can’t play all files in bridge, not even an mp4 with h264/aac that AE made. In general, I typically don’t want to play video in bridge anyway. -

It’s called compositing. A little bit of rotoscoping, scaling, rotation and tracking to tie each clip together. Each person is wearing their own cord, it’s not the same cord. Green screen is not necessary. For a compositor, it’s not difficult to do this; it will take time to do, but it’s not ground breaking. In order for it to happen you must first understand how to do it, then shoot it properly so that you will have what you need to composite it correctly.
You should review Andrew Kramer’s tutorials to watch a pro compositor at work. That will help develop your conception of how they did this. Probably all of these which review the same concepts with different applications:

How about some information?

What about rendering to a different codec? Like a non-quicktime codec. What if you play with the memory settings, or use the options in the secret menu (hold shift when going into general preferences and you’ll see ‘secret’ on the left)? What about being able to use multiprocessing in other non-adobe applications? What about within other adobe applications, like premier and using AME, rendering to the same codec you are using now. Basically logically testing other components on your system to determine the culprit.

Make letters in a 3D program like blender of cinema4d. Add matching lighting and shadow. Then composite the letters with tracking on the live video. In the case of a person going in front of the letters, you’ll need to rotoscope.

You can improve it by scaling up the girl at a different rate from the background over the time she is frozen; I’d do it a little faster than you currently have. This was done on tropic thunder and gives more of a multi-layer rather than flat look.

What are you rendering?
Does it do this with some shapes and solids?
Are you using the render queue (good)? Or are you using AME (bad)?I’ve not had any such problem rendering through AE. Now Premiere and AME is another story…
