Thanks Walter, I checked there but they don’t have the 2TB WDG2TP20000 model. I did find it at CDW.ca:

January 21, 2008 at 3:32 am in reply to: Adding RAM to a New Mac Pro. Advisable to Remove Standard 2GB?Jeff, so it’s pretty much take out the existing 2GB and go with 2x2GB on each riser. Seems simple enough.
Thanks,

Thanks Walter. I’ll have a look at the Lacie’s, maybe it won’t be as difficult to get as the WD’s.

Thanks Walter, I’ve tried Costco but they only have the old 1TB solutions right now. I will keep looking there.
BTW, I hope you have a look at the rest of my post … geez you guys are quick 🙂

Yes clearly, so I now remember why there’s a preview post. It seems the Cow doesn’t like when you cut and paste a TM symbol in your post … here’s the rest of my clipped question:
Anyone know of anywhere I can pick up a Western Digital My Book Pro Edition II (WDG2TP20000) External Hard Drive in Canada? The places listed at Western Digital don’t ship to Canada (interestingly, not even at http://www.westerndigital.ca itself). I’ve exhausted all my usual sources.
If not, anyone have suggestions for a 2TB external hard drive? I’m not tied to the Western Digital (although it does look really good) but what are others using for an external Firewire/USB hard drive solution?
Thanks,

Many thanks Jeff, that seems straight-forward enough. I’ll let her know that it won’t be too painful financially.

Thanks Scott, I went ahead and ordered 8GB from OWC today. It says it’ll ship by Tues. Jan. 22, but I’m not sure that’s realistic at this point. Anyway, hopefully it comes before the 2-4 weeks it’ll take for the Mac Pro itself 🙂

Thanks Anthony, I was going to pick up two Apple 20″ monitors initially but when I saw the price of the Dell I couldn’t resist. However, as you say, my concern was two 24″ monitors might be a little much for both editing and my desk space. I ordered the one to see if there would be enough room with just the one 24″ monitor.
Which leads to my next question. At work I actually only use the second 20″ Cinema Display for my bin and was thinking that at home I might keep my (much more expensive at the time 🙂 Viewsonic CRT for toolbars, bins, etc and use the 24″ Dell for main program stuff. So my question is, do I have to worry about shielding or interference from the CRT damaging the Dell? And if so, any thoughts on making sure my shiny new monitor doesn’t get damaged?
Thanks.

Based on all the positives, I picked one up last night. The CAD pricing was $100 cheaper than the USD price, so the pricing is certainly more appealing than the Apple displays.
Thanks again all,

Thanks for all the help.
