Looks good to me actually, try bringing the cgi elements into after effects, then applying grain or matching the colors to the actual wall interior. Try having extra dust fall down the wall, but make it linger, as it is dry wall, that stuff would really kick up a storm of dust, thicker white powder, perhaps adding a bit of camera shake once your done? Let me see the finals as you progress.

Try doing a model of some pieces of the wall, animate them towards the camera or hit the floor with acompanying shadows? Do you got a low res version to see what you got so far? Im surprised you didnt have good luck with particle illusion, usually it has great results, but you have to know how to tweak it just right.

Iam interested to see how this plays out for you. I too need to do a credit crawl at the end of my film, Im shooting in 1920×1080 @ 23.98 as well.
In after effects, or whatever program your using is your comp set to 23.98? It should be. Try this. Copy and paste your text into after effects, and animate it there see if that fixes it, or vise versa, bring in your text as a .psd, and simply animate it up or down however you want it, still problems?

Try particle illusion, google it, download it, it has many templates to use and work with.

November 5, 2007 at 11:10 pm in reply to: Mind boggling sound!!? Does it sync? What goes on? Shooting at 1080 or 720 p editing in 23.98 or 60, confused!Still confusing. I am using a fostex field recorder. If I shoot at 1080pa, that means its recording at 29.97 fps, but I will actually be doing a pulldown to make it 23.98 in the fcp timeline. Soo, I should set my fostex to 23.98? And it will sync perfectly to the pulldowned footage?

Thats so weird Lars huh. I have fcp 6.0, and it should work, but its not.
I go to the easy setup and choose;
Format: panasonic dvcpro hd
use: dvcpro hd 1080pA24
rate: 23.98I click okay and it tells me “Unable to locate external devices”, etc. I click continue, ignore.
And the defaults are loaded back in the timeline! 29.97 at 720×480, why does it do that?
I dont want to load the camera, I already have all the files from the p2s on my hard drives, along with the txt files.
I really dont want to rener out of a.e or shake, thats a big process, im filming a feature, haa. Imagine.
Thats weird, fcp said they can integrate the p2 workflow quite easily. Hey lars, check out this video on the p2 workflow, its an online seminar through apple, why cant we simply do this why dont i see the same options as in the tutorial. Check it out k.
please watch it, it may shed some light to us.

Hey Lars. Thats great your doing actual tests as opposed to guessing. I wish I can do tests. Hey, Im shooing my feature at 1080pa on the hvx-200 as well, and using fcp advanced pulldown to work in 1080 23.98fps as well.
Hows your editing and testing going?
Does it look better than the 720p stuff? Does it look like a cheesy blur you get in hdv or actual progressive, non blurred footage as the 720p stuff?
See you later.

I saw the film, if you are just reading this thread Lars posted a great film to watch, well, not so great.
Its a pg halooween pre-teen film, but! It was shot on the hvx-200 at 720p, and is now in 2500 theatres, doesnt that give hope to so many! It did to me, thanks Lars.
I did see the ariels shot at 1080pa, and they looked incredible, film, film, film it looked like.
Though, the 720p part throught the feature, it did look like film, but, sometimes it didnt.
The background shadows, when low lit, were pixelated, ohh, and also the faces, very pixelated Im surprised it got theatrical distribution, but am pleasantly surprised, thats a good thing. Its cool to know that things like that can slide from distributors.
I recommend that everyone sees this who is going to be shooting on that camera and plans on blowing up to 35mm.
I am just wondering, did they add grain to the original master, and then the additional coat from the 35mm print, or they just leaved it ungrained, and let the 35mm print do the job.
Why didnt they just shoot the whole thing at 1080pa instead of 720p if the 1080pa looked so much better?
