  • Hi Jeff,

    Thanks for the quick responce.

Do you think you could help me out and tell me how to view that information? I’m not too sure how to do it.
I have Quicktime Pro and Premiere CS4.

    Thanks,
    Clint

    Following the theme,

I just made the mistake of having a custom video editing computer build for me with XP64 installed. The first snag I had was that my Matrox RT.X2 capture card won’t install on XP64. I also noticed that the OpenGL 2.0 support from my NVidia Quadro FX 3700 isn’t XP64 compatible as well. Photoshop/Premiere/AfterEffects were worthless, but now Vista Ultimate 64 is running, and I’m happy again.

Steer far away from XP64. In theory, XP64 is a good idea, but in practice, don’t get burned.

  • Don’t know if you’ve sorted this or not, but I’ve had Encore freeze on me when I try to do Blu-ray and from what I could tell it was being caused by my Blu-ray burner.

I was using a BDR-101-A by Pioneer. I’ve since upgraded to a Pioneer BDR-202 and it now works.

Don’t know if that’s the problem, but something to check out.

    Cheers,
    Clint

I’ve found out that the OpenGL support for this card doesn’t work in XP64… In fact not a lot of stuff does, so I’m doing an upgrade to Vista Ultimate 64.

  • Also,

Where is the Adobe Encore U2U forum? Is it on the Cow?

    Thanks guys,

  • Hi Jon and Joe,

Thanks for the replies. I think the main problem I have is when the main video stream spans multiple vob files. I know that once the vob’s are copied from the disc, you can change the file names to .mpg and then use those again in Encore.

But for a few projects I have recently, I’ve noticed that the first and last 30 frames of each vob/mpg is usually corrupted, either not having sound, or the video has either green or red flashes that is really difficult to impossible to edit out.

Normally, I take all the mpgs into Premiere, try to get the best “seams” from one mpg to the other and then Dynamic Link it into Encore.

    Hi Adam,

If you can limit down the file that may be causing you problems, this “should” work.

In the Project panel, you can just do a right-click on the video asset and choose Transcode Settings. In the Quality Preset, choose your desired preset and press okay.

Right click again on the asset (you should see now that under the DVD Transcode Settings it says “Untranscoded” instead of “Don’t Transcode”)
    and choose Transcode Now.

The Progress Tab should open up (F10 is the shortcut).

Then just try building the project again. I would probably guess that if the video file is corrupted in a way, the transcode won’t finish.

    Hope that helps,
    Clint

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the help. I am the main guy here, and everything is done in-house here.

Seeing that one is to capture and the other is to assist in editing, do you guys think that they would play nicely together?

They both are matched with CS4, is this a common practice? Of course, my system will have enough power to run them.

    Thanks,
    Clint

Below is a screenshot of my test file 00000.m2ts
For some reason, these are all the export settings available.
(Ignore the first setting, that was my last attempt)

I thought that HDTV 720p 50 HighQuality would have worked, but when I changed the dimentions to 1920×1080, the Interlaced field order popped up again (yellow box). It will do 1280×720 as Progressive, but being a bit new to this, I’m not sure what to do.

Does this screenshot help at all?

Many thanks for all the posts.

    Yeah, stupid me.

I’m trying to find a solution that works using my footage that I shot with my Panasonic HDc-HS9 PAL (1920x1080p / 1080p 25)
    and
    Premiere CS4.

AVCHD can be read my CS4, but playback is jerky and impossible to get anything done. I’ve heard that is because the AVCHD compression is very complex and it bogs Premiere to a hault.

    Any advice?

    Many thanks,
    Clint
