What operating system are you running? I think firstly, I’d try adding some more memory. 2000-XP can handle 2GB and Vista double that, so personally, that’d be my first fix. I was already at 2GB on XP Pro, so I had to find something else.
For me, a couple things worked. I was lucky in that I labeled all my assets in a way that I could it wasn’t too much of a problem to do a brand new project, and just complete the thing in one session. If a brand new build is out of the picture, I also had some success by transcoding some of my larger video assets before building the DVD.
I hope that these few things help you out.

August 19, 2008 at 8:22 am in reply to: I have a dvd that has 2 VOB files with the same name – causing problemsHi Eric,
I have taken screen-shots of the 2 DVDs I’ve been talking about:
https://www.alpha-duplication.com/vob.JPG
https://www.alpha-duplication.com/vob1.JPGI do work at an authoring/duplication house, and that’s why we’re trying to add copy protection, but for the copy protection to work, we can only have a VIDEO_TS folder in the root of the DVD, and as you can see from the screen-shots, there’s the second Roxio folder that I mentioned before.
When we try to re-author the disc, the process fails because (my thoughts) of the VOB files that are named the same.
The client has submitted the masters this way, and he cannot author the DVD any other way. There is no way to copy the DVD files to the desktop because of the naming problem, so I’m wondering if anyone has seen this before and/or has a work around.
Many thanks,

August 5, 2008 at 4:45 pm in reply to: Unexpected layout problem when flashVars inserted – Help!I did finally get it figured out, thanks for all the help from all the forums.
Basically, I created 2 wrapper div’s, one around the navBar and one around the entire main content, and then they could both be floated left, and it sorted itself out.
Thanks again,

No, not stop the physical DVD player, but in a player, the exit button will revert the DVD player to its default screen (as if there wasn’t a disc in the player) and like I mentioned, PowerDVD 5 will actually stop playing the disc, but my client says that it’s not working.

June 13, 2008 at 3:08 pm in reply to: How to get “Broadcast Quality” footage from DVCam TapeI’ll try that.
I need to do two timelines and use a menu, so in the Export Settings I’m setting the Quality to 5 and using VBR, 2 Pass.
Should I be doing anything different/else?
I’ll reply with the results.

Thank you for that, I was guessing that I had to do it, but I thought I’d ask in case Encore CS3 had added something cool that I hadn’t figured out yet.
So the video for my project is PAL (DVPAL anamorphic 1.42) and the audio is 48KHz stereo, and I’ve tried exporting, and during the fade out, I get some noticeable pixelation that I think might be caused by the export process.
Can you recommend a setting where I could get the highest quality from this first scene?
Thanks again,

The reason we’re stuck on this machine is that we are in talks with a company that has unfortunately gone bankrupt, and as a result, they are selling off their equipment for very cheap. Under normal circumstances, we wouldn’t even think of spending such a large amount of money for our video editing suite, but since this opportunity has came along, I’m trying to find out if it will work for us.
