I’m trying to use Digital Juice’s full page transtions in FCP5. So far I’m not succesful. I have used the Juicer to get the clip but when I place it on the timeline the alpha channel is missing. I called Digital Juice who told me to drag the clip directly to desktop and import into FCP suggesting that this would solve the problem. It didn’t. I called Apple TC who told me that the DV videos don’t have enough room for the alpha channel so I’d need to annimate it??? All my attempts have been unsuccessful in getting the clip to be transparent in the alpha sections of the clip. I hope someone can help me with this as my project is on hold waiting for a successful answer.

Thank you for your response, but the clips have much more than 10 secs of video. I’m getting an x on the cursor when I try to put the transition between the clips. What is so frustrating is this only happens on some clips. I can razor blade on the clip I’m having trouble with and the resulting two ciips will accept the transition with no problems. I can put the transtion on other clips on the timeline with no problem. But for some strange reason, with no apparent rhyme or reason, FCP capriciously choose to disallow a transtion between certain clips or it makes the transition only a half second long. Or it will only allow the transition to show on one clip but not between the clips. I sure hope someone can help me.

Sorry for the delay; I was in a place that didn’t have Internet access. You are quite right. I was too vague. I have Pixelan. What I am looking for are the 3D type effects. And the Lens flare transitions. I hope this adds a bit more specificity. In the meantime, I am going to the sites suggested. Thanks

Thanks Kevin for the suggestion, but I still have a problem. I couldn’t find a PopUp menu. But I did see a system settings area. I went in there and the Playback Control settings are now RT-Safe; Video Quality High (it was dynamic). But even after I made those changes, my JumpBack overlays still didn’t allow the video on the track below to show through their alpha portions. I’m so frustrated. I don’t understand why it works in FCP 4.5HD, and when I purchased this new SOA FCP 5 it doesn’t. The real frustrating thing is I can’t just go back to FCP 4.5 and open up this project. I hope you have some other suggestions because Apple said they didn’t have jumpbacks and couldn’t help. Thanks

Thank you so much. I was just about to post to tell that I’d found that website and discovered the problem. I found the site, deleted the number including receipts but I didn’t realize that I needed to reinstall QT. When I was told to reinstall QT I learned that the reinstall was the final piece of the puzzle. Thank you and I hope this will help others.

I needed to get a bit more clarity. I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one experiencing the stuttering problem. My stuttering occurred when I exported to tape. I was sending the timeline to a DVCAM recorder. You suggest that the DVD burner could be the problem. I’m not following that. Please clarify
