Thanks for the tips. I think the project will be in a fairly unsophisticated assembly without a lot of transitions. Still trying to sort out how 7 to X handles the original media and where it should reside so everything links up automatically.

There is always the old fashioned way use a slate with clapper to mark the sound on the camera and external track.

I have also been wondering about whether copying both the card and importing into FCPX then backing up both of those is overkill.

That looks exciting. Hope they work out the crashing though, I still get some crashes on the current version.

If the new version of Color Finale stops crashing FCPX, that would be worth 50 bucks.

Interesting to me that ESPN. ABC and FOX are broadcasting at 720p/60. Since I am shooting at 1080p/60 that doesn’t make my gear seem so antiquated. I do like the 60 fps since I mostly do sports and use a lot of slow motion. Not that my stuff gets to the big guys, it just run on Youtube!

Thanks Simon, that is indeed the article. I learned a lot reading it.

A very timely subject for me, since I had just watched a number of student documentaries where the eye lines were very disconcerting. After reading the comments above I went back to a favorite of mine, a Frontline story “League of Denial” edited by Steve Audette. In it the eye lines are very close to the lens, but never on it. I know Audette wrote up how it was shot and edited, but I can’t find the link now. Anyway, it is far different looking from the example above.

VGA is awful. A lot of the projectors can work with HDMI off of a mac and that is much better. Not to Hollywood standards but a big improvement on VGA.
