I would guess so. DVD only hold about 5 GB, so two should easily fit in your 100+ remaining space.

Wow, I would gladly unload my super 8 Minolta camera from the late 60’s for a lot less than $2k. It is molding away in the garage. Of course I think the Bolex and others from that era were a lot better. Amazingly the Kodachrome shot with it has survived reasonably well, the Ektachrome, not so much.

That was a very strong endorsement of FCPX. Made sense to me although I have never edited in Avid.

I will be happy with a new iMac with 5k screen, and as many USB-c ports as they can put on it. Maybe then I will switch to 4k video.
The death of Moore’s law has really altered the pc business cycle. In the good old days, with processor speed roughly doubling every two years, it was a driving force to upgrade. Now not so much. It may not be too long before the innovation on the iPhones slows, maybe Apple is already there.

What caught my eye was the ability to add a compressor to all of the dialog clips at once in the final stage of editing the sound. That seems really slick, compared to how I did it in the past.

As amazing as his demonstration was, I am just now reading Walter Murch’s book In the Blink of an Eye and I am struck by the contrast of the thoughtful approach he takes to editing, compared the hyperspeed editing illustrated in the video above. I certainly feel I spend more time viewing and thinking than mechanically making cuts.
Maybe what is more important than how fast you can cut with a editing program is how logical and easy (not frustrating) it is. I recently had to learn Pro Tools for sound editing after using FCP7 and FCPX and Pro Tools seemed very frustrating. Although the teacher, who uses it professionally, can make it fly.
Another thought about the video, this is a short montage and the need for cuts to emphasize a narrative are not there.

That was mind blowing. Just the fluidity of his editing and command of the tools in FCPX is hard to grasp, but it demonstrates the potential of FCPX.

It is a harsh lesson, but for $100.00 you can buy a USB3 drive with several TB on it and back up you hard drive with the active library on it frequently or at least when you have put in some major effort on your project. Of course there are other more sophisticated approaches, but this one is simple and inexpensive.

OK, but I am still holding out for an update version of an iMac with some whizzo ports to match USB-c, TB-2 etc. I prefer to edit at a desk on a big screen, so using a portable with its obvious compromises and higher cost doesn’t appeal to me.
I am not arguing about the article, which confirms my earlier observation that in the Apple store, the iMac, trash can, etc occupy minimal space compared to notebooks, iPad, Apple Watches and iPhones.
Of course, living in the bubble of the SF Bay Area, can cause severe reality distortion as proven on November 8, 2016.
