So no, very much not something for an ordinary user to take on. Since your problem is not really an Apple-related issue, I suspect it’s out of the Apple Store’s range of services.
You could try the demo of DataRescue II from Prosoft to see if it might work, or other software data recovery utilities. Worst case, depending on the worth of the material, a recovery service like DriveSavers, for an expensive solution.

Peter Thomas is voicing a set of spots running here in the Detroit area for Beaumont, a medical complex once known as William Beaumont Hospital.
Thomas’ narration unfortunately is made to sound like a nervous Voice of Doom, with the tag line being “It’s Your Life…Do YOU have a Beaumont doctor?”
Some time back I had a client who used Peter Thomas for his spots, and described him as being incredibly nice, and great to work with. Certainly one of the most ubiquitous voices in the ad business.
BTW I for one can’t stand the BK spots!

It sounds like you’re trying to download a file attachment from a message on a webmail account, right?
Is it a dot mac account or other, like an ISP mail account?
Have you tried right-clicking (control-clicking) the download link and selecting the “Save Selection As..” choice, or just double clicking the attachment icon?
What results if you go to the downloaded file and delete the .html extension and then try to open the file?

If, for example, you want to map “Save” command to a mouse button, you would map “Command-S” to it, and so on. These are the same commands you find called out in the top menu bar’s File, Edit, etc. drop-down lists.
You can, if you want, remap many Finder and Application key functions from System Preferences>Keyboard and Mouse>Keyboard Shortcuts.

Keep in mind that nothing is “safe.” Action and Title safe boundaries indicate the areas within which most viewers are likely to see action and title content. It does not mean that material outside these boundaries will not be seen. My own rule has always been that, if it’s visible anywhere in the raster, somebody, somewhere will see it, whether it’s a boom mike at the top, the edge of a flat on the side or a cable on the floor at the bottom.
If there’s a great concern, then upsizing the image to eliminate a visible artifact is what you’ll need to do, knowing that doing so may cause overall image quality to take a hit.

In the “Get Info” window for a non-boot drive is a checkbox “Ignore ownership on this volume.”
Am assuming that in System Prefs>Accounts you have indeed checked the “Allow User to administer this computer” box for your login(s).

Not quite sure what you’re asking for.
In both basic FCP “Text” and Boris “Title 3d” clicking on the Font select brings up a pulldown menu which you can navigate either by mouse, up/down arrow, or typing the first or first few letters of the font name to get in the neighborhood. If you’ve selected the text in the compose window, font changes will show up interactively. If you need to see what the typeface looks like beforehand, since it’s not displayed that way in these lists, use Font Book or Font Explorer as suggested in another reply, then choose by name.
