  • Sure thing…always try the cheapest solution first! If I were to guess, I would say that there is probably a super tiny 20 ga. Wire that came off of one or both of those plugs. If you’re the ambitious type, it shouldn’t be too hard to unscrew those plugs and re-solder the loose wire if you can fish it out. They may also be on some sort of circuit board and the wire came off it or the board broke…

  • I’ve got a crazy idea for you I used to use on my old Sony DVcam when the plug went bad. You can get an RCA pair to 1/8″ Y adapter and plug in to those outputs. That repair will probably cost a few hundred dollars, that adapter is $4 at Radio Shack.

Thanks for the info. Anyone thinking what I’m thinking? “deck” to “deck” editing with two Ki Pro’s! Just like the old days LOL

I’ve just started working with a Blackmagic Decklink card with key/fill output. It eats up two very valuable inputs on the HS450A, but it does the job very well.

Thanks for your input Gary. It was the Matrix page on the site that confused me, it says that 8 channels is possible, but it didn’t explain that two devices were needed. Your tip about the dip switches is very helpful as I I’m thinking I can probably pass audio through channels 1-2 on the HD-SDI and mux. in the four additional channels using the HD10AM on 5-8.

Ah, you’re right Jeremy. I was looking at the converter matrix on the AJA site. Now looking at the product page I see what you mean. Yes I would like to have 6 or 8 channels available, I don’t think it would be worth buying a HD10AM just to get 2 additional channels.

Hey Jeremy, thanks for helping me with another Ki Pro question. I am currently feeding the Ki Pro stereo audio via XLR (say a board feed), and an Edirol gets four additional channels. I have to sync them up in my timeline before I can edit. Let’s say I am recording the stereo board feed, then want to add a couple of clean mic channels (ambient mics most time) I could feed all of this into the HD10AM, as well as my HD/SDI switcher video output, and it would feed the Ki Pro which would record all of those channels. Am I missing something here?

Hi Jeremy, thanks for the response.

“What’s your source, and why Blu-Ray?”

The source is HD/SDI coming from a Panasonic switcher, I use the Ki Pro to record the line cut. I wanted a Blu Ray as I also need a player, and since space is at a premium in my flypack, I wanted to multipurpose the recorder.

“This kind of defeats the purpose of Blu-Ray. If going DVD, why not just get a DVD recorder that can better than composite?”

I agree that it’s not ideal. I’ve been looking for a recorder that can take HD/SDI, doesn’t look like that exists. Can you recommend a high end recorder with either a component or HDMI input that I can connect to the Ki Pro? I can always install a separate player later if need be.
