AJA HD10AM for the Ki Pro
Posted by Chuck Pullen on September 14, 2010 at 2:07 pmSo once Ki Pro 2.0 software is available, one could use the HD10AM in-line to the Ki Pro and record up to 8 channels of embedded audio? I am assuming all 8 channels will appear as separate audio tracks or possibly 4 stereo tracks in the timeline? Anyone have any additional insight on this?
Thanks,
Chuck

*Edit – maybe it is.
First, what is your audio source?

September 14, 2010 at 4:00 pmHey Jeremy, thanks for helping me with another Ki Pro question. I am currently feeding the Ki Pro stereo audio via XLR (say a board feed), and an Edirol gets four additional channels. I have to sync them up in my timeline before I can edit. Let’s say I am recording the stereo board feed, then want to add a couple of clean mic channels (ambient mics most time) I could feed all of this into the HD10AM, as well as my HD/SDI switcher video output, and it would feed the Ki Pro which would record all of those channels. Am I missing something here?

September 14, 2010 at 4:13 pmThe HD10AM is AES embedder/disembedder. That means your source needs to be digital AES audio.
The HD10AMA will take 4 channels of analog audio and embed them to the HDSDI.
You are saying you have 6 channels of analog audio?

September 14, 2010 at 4:19 pmAh, you’re right Jeremy. I was looking at the converter matrix on the AJA site. Now looking at the product page I see what you mean. Yes I would like to have 6 or 8 channels available, I don’t think it would be worth buying a HD10AM just to get 2 additional channels.

Of analog, right?

September 14, 2010 at 7:28 pmAJA only makes 4 channel analog embedders. Look like you will have to get a different piece of gear for embedding.

September 15, 2010 at 12:29 amHello Guys..
Although the AJA – is a 4-channel Analog audio em-bedder, it has
the ability to embed on channels 1-4 or 5-8 of a HD-SDI stream..we use 2 – embedders – and set the first one to 1-4 and the
second to 5-8 and the editors love the fact that we have a stereo mix along with 6 – ISO tracks – with the line cut – all in sync on the timeline.Gary

you were right on the mark… it does 4-channels per unit..
there are small dip switches on the back of the AJA that allow you to
set which “bank” you want to select the 4 – channels to go to..I don’t know if it real clear in the sales literature…
