  • if you have poor lighting, the 2nd best option would be blue markers that you can still key out.
    easiest shape is ‘x’ and just randomize its rotation. i don’t think weta had any pink hair characters. predator’s key was orange.

    as soon as something goes in the sequence, it’s clipped to rec. 709 color. premiere doesn’t support higher color than that.

    he original raw audio might be clipped too, though. imho isotope rx does declipping a lot better, but here’s the audition version.

    tips for getting good audio(if you can’t reshoot with expensive sound equipment that is ☺

    1. clean up diagnostics audio. de-clip 1st ,de-reverb 2nd, denoise always last, (watch for DC offset errors and phasing errors)
    2. equalize, removing wind, rumbling and enhancing vocal range raising 95hz 2.5 dB Q 2 width, and 972 hz 4.5dB Q2 and 1306 Hz 4 dB 2Q
    3. studio reverb size 1; decay 200ms;width 19.9;high freq 161hz, low cut 20hz, damp 50%; diff 50%; dry 100%, wet 78.6% to get warm microphone sound.
    4. multiband compressor-fiddle with this one’s settings so it sounds good to roll off dynamic range loudness
    5. match loudness ITU-R BS.1770-3 -24lufs for correct audio levels

    do they shift when imported back into premiere?

  • it shouldn’t be blowing out whites like that. it doesn’t work with adjustment layers directly or lumetri. you have to use it in the dropdown for the export in adobe media encoder. or you can NEST its sequence first. its a premiere bug. also, if you have pure black 0 IRE it can possibly cause issues.

    also, there are other ways such as upload a video, click re-touch youtube video, then cancel that. it will encode from vp9 codec on youtube native player. that would be my first choice, or 2nd, a p3 to rec. 709 lut. or rec709 native monitor.

    on some layers, no colors ends up being 0.
    so put below line mb=Math.log(b);
    the lines,
    mr=mr+0.001;
    mg=mg+0.001;
    mb+mb=0.001;

    that should fix it.

    July 1, 2018 at 11:27 pm in reply to: H 265 4K bitrate

    bitrates can get confusing. especially with different resolution sizes. its much simpler to use RF desired quality. in handbrake, you can set RF 16-22 and get almost identical with no silly math and extremely small file sizes.

    h.265 is only really noticable on very low bitrates.
    some other tricks are lowering res and using AAC audio as its psychoacousticaly better at lower bitrates.
    AME makes really large h.264 file sizes. for some reason.

    alchemist od framerate converter uses interpolation frames not speed change. most people just speed change. don’t forget to maintain audio pitch if changing audio speed.
