I’m after a little clarification on the subject of Tone Mapping. Suppose I have some Sony SLog-3 footage (10 bit) and I need to edit it. On the lumetri panel I can select a LUT to map it to Rec.709. Is any information lost when I do that?

Do the lumetri controls care whether I leave the clip in SLog-3 ? nor do I have to map to Rec.709 for them to work properly?

Lumetri also provides a set of film look LUTs I can use in the creative section. Do they require the clip to be in Rec.709 to work? Are there some that expect a Log input (e.g. Cineon or SLog)?

    thanks

as soon as something goes in the sequence, it’s clipped to rec. 709 color. premiere doesn’t support higher color than that.
