Here’s a free flare wipe.aep you can monkey around with. It uses a flare to create a silhouette alpha that transition wipes 2 pictures back and forth. It’s subtle and beautiful. Works in cs3. Just replace the two pics/footage with your own.

One of my friends figured this out. I’m sure you can emulate the workflow he uses in his free FCP plugins.
“when an image is blown out, especially on the skin, not all color channels are necessarily over exposed. Often when the red channel is blown out, the green channel may still contain good information. This plugin lets you selectively substitute one channel for another in the over exposed areas and color correct it to match.”

You could try dup the layer, subst good green for bad red with channel effects then layer over with screen, lighten, or add.

You can use the free Unmult from

then you can do cool things like make the flare create a special cross dissolve with it set to stencil alpha.

Some big ones don’t change instantly. They dim down and up, roll, flip, etc…just to be cool or technology behaviors?, I’m not sure, I just emulate them.

I’ve used that font before.

There’s good news though, no matter how bad the keying is, you can simply roto it with masks with the pen tool and keyframe mask keysframes. Perfect!
btw, I actually got a pretty good key off this, but it’s weird how pixelated the footage it. Mainly just use a shrink matte down, soften the edge by 2 pixels, and turn on light wrap and color correct. Gotta luv primatte.

Your procedure then is using things called “markers” you place directly on your greenscreen to measure distance, speed, etc. You are delving into a very complex workflow and you should read these sites to get a basic understanding of what it involves.

Well then it sounds like its just standard field problem from skinny, un-bold text that is so small, each field tears it apart. I bet it’s flickering too. Make it big, bold(bald?), slower moving, and fat, like my boss.

if your per frame vertical movement greater than about 1% of the frame height, the movement will not look smooth, even if your movement is in whole pixels or even scan lines… it will look rather strobe like due to the distance the text moves each frame.
