    I’ve used that font before.

has really nice ones all free. just add a green glow to them and animate scoreboard. It’s actually fun.

    google:

    free dot font

    and you might get luckier….

otherwise you’re looking at a monospace font, the mosaic effect, the grid effect and quite a bit of time tinkering with the settings and it still won’t look as good as some free dot font off the web…

note, if you are using this for commercial purposes (i.e. you are getting paid for this) there may be stipulations on the ‘freeness’ of the font (i.e. you may need to buy it).

just read the fine print to make sure you (and/or your client) are not at risk…

Some big ones don’t change instantly. They dim down and up, roll, flip, etc…just to be cool or technology behaviors?, I’m not sure, I just emulate them.

This type of font is commonly called “dot matrix”. I believe there is also one called “Diodos”.

Good luck and post your completed video if you can. I’d like to see how you use it.

    Tip for nice animtion:

I once used a standard decode effect, but with some posterized gradients tied to a time-displacement, so the decoding happens a few frames later for each horizontal line:
