    believe you me, i’ve read all the shootouts. the gh2 is the only sub thousand cam
    that can…
    1. hdmi output
    2. zebra.
    3. 12,800 iso hack low light. you won’t need 10K lights everywhere
    4. match red epic in resolution with quantum hack
    5. sound hack
    6. even the red has jello, don’t get a 550.
    7. get almost any lens you want with an adaptor micro 4/3.
    8. unlimited recording time

    check it out on vimeo

  • try the demo of EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard Professional. it will recover 1 GB free for you to see if it fits your needs. I use it at work. It also works on sd cards, pretty nice software.

    December 19, 2011 at 9:53 am in reply to: Only show even/odd Frames

    are you try to preserve nested fps in comp, settings, advanced?
    there’s a checkbox there. also, here’s some other ways to get half the frames. I’ve listed 5 ways. There’s many more.

    1. timestrech 50%

    2. often pixelmotion needs footage to be precomped so that it can access the data.

    3. Now, you can put the footage in half its fps comp and it will be choppy but fast because you’re taking out every other frame.

    4. Another way is time-posterize time at half fps.

    5. also, if you use the effect strobe light duration 1/fps, period 2/fps. you can make different frames invisible.

    6. timeremap and add this expression

    f= timeToFrames();
    p = Math.floor(f/1);
    framesToTime(p*2
    )

    I have no idea why you’d want to interpolate the odd and even frames separately. Perhaps the end goal would give us a clearer picture why you are going this route…

    in video mode on the Sony SLT-A65, iso is maxed at 1600, compared to gh2’s 3200. also, a65’s AF mode in video is limited to F3.5.

    the video quality is slightly better than the 7d, i’ll give it that.

    i know there’s some scripts that can set z distance, etc. and card dance, is that what this is?

    gh2 can output hdmi 24 inside a wrapped 60i without too much degradation and is cheaper than the 5D mark ii. the t2i quality jumps down to sd when rec button is hit and the lcd screen turns off, lol.
    and if you get a cheap SmallHD DP6 without zebras, the gh2’s got built in zebras anyways. mo savings = mo happy, right?

    gh2 fix as talked about here.

    https://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?237584-HDMI-Capture-Problem-SOLVED-AviSynth-RULES!

    and if you turn off intelligent resolution and -2 sat, -2 sharpness, the gh2 makes some mighty nice 24p filmic pans. you can hack it with ptool to actual look better than canon 5d mark ii!

    December 17, 2011 at 12:33 pm in reply to: D1 NTSC Standard Definition workflow

    hi there, here’s my thoughts…

    dv50 is 4:2:2 at 50mpbs.

    There’s dvcpro hd at 100mbps.

    Prores SD is also 4:2:2 and 64 mbps. pretty darn close.

    Prores is also 10bit, A tad nicer for gradients in skies.

    DNxHD can bounce around up to 220 Mbit/s with a bit depth of 10 and can install on both pc and mac. Can you encode prores on pc? I don’t think so!

    Now most of these won’t go bad until more than 5 generations where you see a visible loss. Clients will give you various formats, get ready to handle them all.

    and btw d1 has extra 8 pixels compared to dvd’s 486 to 480 which has nothing to do with a specific codec.

    December 17, 2011 at 1:21 am in reply to: Problem Rendering Twixtor Output in AfterEffects CS5

    usually i’d recommend rendering out higher than 10% and importing and re-rendering another slow pass, but you’ve done some extreme time lapse where objects travel a far distance in each frame.

    You could try using an alternate source with unsharp, shadow/highlights bring down the highlights and add more saturation to help guide the frames and keyframe the twixtor settings.

    If that fails, your only option left would be to try to hand guide the twixtored objects in vector mode.

    you can use timewarp in ae on a mac to go 60p to 24p, or buy twixtor for fcp/ae.

    here’s a timewarp 60p to 24p

    drag 60fps to new comp button
    precomp footage, timestretch precomp 80%
    add timewarp 80%, vector 100, smooth 28, filter extreme,
    new 24(23.976) fps comp, drop in timewarped comp, render 24p

  • can you post a 3 sec clip or something? here’s an ae project I made a while back that fixes flicker.
