now use timewarp and up your framerate with interpolated motion. all cows roll their eyes 🙂

I made a much simpler file for AE. It’s set for 18-23.976. The timewarp is 50% which is a good trade for warp versus smoothness. You can change the timewarp and timestretch correspondingly so they match up.
The real question is, is 18/23.976 = 0.7507507507507508 a perfect number after you decimate frames? If you can get away with a higher number and still like the smoothness, go for it. There’s less chance for artifacts. Don’t forget you can create guiding mattes too! there’s a draft and high quality timewarp too.

Since you have a very limited color palate, I recommend when you do all your tinting, that you don’t tint the actor’s skin in with everything else.
I wrote a small ae project called 2 strip. It works similar to mb’s mojo that tints actors separately from the background.

if you shoot a chip chart on each camera, then match them in post, the strength of the colors will be the same when they turn grey and then easier for ae’s new b/w effect to do its magic, like Dave recommends.

if the codec or video player doesn’t support the embedded profile tag, you can burn in the color change with Ae’s utility color profile converter. just turn off color management and it should give the exact same results, but as long as the software supports the interpretation profile, it shouldn’t matter if your viewer, ie. vlc fails miserably.

1. a heavy tint, such as green
2. a slight Technicolor look
