you can try other warp settings too. not all work for every method.

also deshaker – a virtualdub plugin is free and works really well

free software that reads bsod dump files
    https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

or check the C:\window\minidump files manually.
    Windows 7:
Go to Start and type in “sysdm.cpl” (without the quotes) and press Enter
    Click on the Advanced tab
Click on the Startup and Recovery Settings button
Ensure that “Automatically restart” is unchecked
Under the Write Debugging Information header select “Small memory dump (64 kB)” in the dropdown box
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as “%systemroot%Minidump” (without the quotes)
Click OK twice to exit the dialogs, then reboot for the changes to take effect

    also
    try
PassMark BurnInTest which will torture test your components for faults.

it may seem a little confusing at first, because it is a relatively new technology. I was specifying the newest NVMe rates which is m.2 x4 NOT x2 or old pcie. x4 uses more pci lanes to transmit data hence 4 lanes = more bandwidth. There a dizzying array of ssd types out there so be sure you buy the right one. And when I post, I always add a little extra in there to help the economy. buy more stuff!

here are the main differences of msata vs m.2

    ///more wiki stuff
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_ATA#Mini-SATA_.28mSATA.29

here’s the link to the actual newest 4x lanes speed of pci

and SDHC CAN hold data. Just well, you’re kinda going back in time to 2005 or so.

now if you want to hand out dvd player disks, use a third party frame scaler to 480p, then burning out a dvd-9 compliant with constant bitrate 8,500 Mbit/s(total should not go over 10 with audio, subs) to get best quality.

    1. Apple Compressor works good for rescaling

    2. a free plugin
    https://sites.google.com/site/katisvideotoolbox/smooth-bspline-scaler
use with crosscale pixel bender accelerator to load pbg file if you’re newer than cs5.5

    3. trial$
    https://www.infognition.com/super_resolution/

    4. red giant instant hd
    https://www.redgiant.com/products/all/instant-4k/

p.s. remember to deinterlace before scaling if you have interlaced footage!

.mts supports AVCHD DVD-5 or 9 discs although they cannot be played in a standard DVD player, but can be played in many Blu-ray Disc players as long as the bitrate is below 18 Mbit/s.

most blueray players support AVCHD at 1080p(including ps3) so you don’t even need to worry about downscaling.
Just use a burning preset called bluray compatible AVCHD. some players even support .mp4 via network or usb disk,
    yep…usb disk 🙂

from article :”Transcend says that users can expect read and write speeds of up to 95MB/s” sorry 4k needs 1152MB/sec. but there are SD cards out there that can do this, but you can still do ProRes HQ @ 28MB/sec. so it all depends on what files you’re using as long as your media drive is separate from your cache drive. Since cache requires the fastest, it might be better to use the sd for media instead.

Thunderbolt 2 is fast enough for 4k. NOT thunderbolt 1. so don’t go buying plain thunderbolt thinking you’re golden.

SD cards do exist but they require new motherboards with 4x m2. support.
at m.2 4x 1.16 GB/s read speed, one single sd card is faster than EIGHT hd’s in raid. 4k with one card? 4K film DPX 4096 x 3112 is 1152MB/sec(1.15GB/sec)… so bam!, you’ve just nailed 4k land with ZERO hard drives. Yep, its fast enough for cache(the old man).

  • effect timewarp 100 with shutter on will only create motion blur from moving objects. you can set the shutter to manual for more blur.

  • yes, my previous post was for a high end 3-d rendering system.

raid 5 ssd’s with M.2 would be the fastest, but also consider an external thunderbolt 2 system like a LaCie which can handle 4k video. Both can be configured hot swappable, but ssd’s storage unfortunately comes at a premium.

from a mismanaged after effects code point of view, you have many valid points.

if you only want to play in adobe after effects land, price/performance teaters out around 4-6 cores, 64GB ram. of course, the GHz speed can always be higher.

ocassionly 8 cores and 128 GB ram is used for some comps, although very rare.

    then what should you buy?
there’s also some small text extruding in ray tracing land in exchange for an expensive 3d card.
you want at least 3gb per cpu and 1/4 of your total ram for background apps.

    but.. hold on a minute…

a big chunk of adobe’s team is running full steam to revamp the render frames simultanesouly function.

so…what are you buying? the future? the now? will you wait for the new features?

do you want crazy awesome mental ray capability and make toy story 5? do you even use ray tracing at all?

for now, if you’re on a really tight budget, try to oc’s that processor as much as possible and hope for the best, or plunk the change and play the waiting game.

  • first off, the motherboard doesn’t like oc voltage very much or pci-e sound cards so get ready for crashes. So instead, get a ASRock X99 and go to 6.2GHZ without a hickup. You need 128 GB ram which ASrock supports and Xeon 18-core processors Family not a octo i-7…which does not support ECC ram(extremely useful for 24/7 rendering). Plus, the added benefit of I don’t know, 10 more cores perhaps! The i7 is for gaming and Xeon for server/heavy CPU work like rendering 4k, not playing call of duty. Sorry gamers!

Your bus speed will need to be about 103.45 Mhz and your core oc’d to 1.847V. Also, ASrock’s mobo supports way faster M.2 than asus so your SSD’s will be faster. Samsung XP941 PCIe x4 M.2 SSD 1.16 GB/s instead of a evo at 540mb/s…
you have a 4 way SLI/Crossfire support which is good for 3-d, so you’ll definitely need more video cards, I only see one in your post…

You’ll need extra TB from your SSD’s and the single old iron non-raid hard drive must go(MAJOR, major! bottleneck). I really hope you reconsider raid(at least raid 5) because all that data has ZERO backup protection, and you’ll be waiting 40x longer to get data back and forth from it. Hope this was helpful and you didn’t click buy already! Laters…
