SD Card for Disk Cache? Would it be possible?
Hi,
A couple weeks ago a friend of mine recommended me to use an external drive using thunderbolt and set it up as the drive for Disk Cache in After Effects.
I never thought of it before and never thought it could be of much advantage, but it sounded promising considering how fast the thunderbolt is and it should make cache fast and easy, the downside is, as I use a retina Macbook Pro, I don’t really want to walk around with an external hardrive all the time.I recently came across this article about using SD cards ready to fit nicely in the Macbook Pro card reader slot without protruding out.
And I thought – it doesn’t add weight or extra space, and I don’t need to carry it around as it fits perfectly in the slot, would I be able to use it as my Disk Cache in AE??Now, these SD cards for now can only go up to 128Gb and I’m not so sure about how fast the card reader works.
Would using one of these SD cards be any advantage to hold cache in AE? Would it be too slow to read from?
Will AE even recognise and accept the SD Card as a drive as Disk Cache destination?
Is 128Gb a reasonable amount of space for cache? I mean I have 46Gb right now as standard. Thanks!
