Creating a Depth Map of a face for a VFX shot…advice needed! AE CS6
Trying to avoid going full 3D with this effect if at all possible…
Anyhow, I have rotoscoped our actress and now what I need to do is create a Depth Map of her face to throw a Faux 3D effect on it… trying to do something similar to “Transcendence” where veins can be seen under the skin, lighting up essentially…
She hardly moves in the frame she’s just staring forward, but the camera moves slightly (handheld kind of look, not shaky, just slight movement)…
My hope is to somehow create a depth map so that I can have a vein layer mapped onto her face…
What advice can you give (Besides the obvious reshoot, and trying to avoid full-on 3D FX if possible)

Not quite what I was looking for…
I want to be able to see veins under the skin of her whole face, so I need a way to conform a vein layer to the contours of her face… the only way I can think to do that is to somehow generate a depth map of her face…
unless there’s another way…

At about 36:20 Kramer uses a rough 3D model (really rough basic model) of the actress to give him a depth pass that he could then apply to the footage
