um,, the external usb only can read at 190mb/sec. That is very very slow. Next time you should use thunderbolt 2, m.2 ssd, raid, or little proxies then you could even work with RAW.

couldn’t he try a different blending mode with keyframed opacity solids? linear color management doesn’t go brown mushy from what I can remember.

99 fps is the highest support but you could try 99 fps interlaced which would be 198 fps in fields. the 240fps might be slightly slower in playback. You can then conform the meta tag in quicktime back to 240fps.
As long as the interpret and compositions are the same, there won’t be any missing frames.
he could actually hide it as an interlaced frame! since 120 is half of 60, he could render out 60 interlaced lower or upper field and the frame would last 120th/sec. No way you could see that! and the extra bonus is that it would play on normal playback devices.

that’s just the open source h.264 encoder. it enables multi-hexagonal subsampling. that’s about the only major difference. Adobe media encoder has a few options.
ffmpeg, Handbrake, vidcoder, etc use the X.264 encoder.
H.264 or AVC level 10 is the most mature that is still used, although h.265 is slowly gaining maturity for half the file size.

you would need a video benchmarking tool which gives benchmark numbers on hundreds of items. another problem not discussed yet, for example, the same video played in quicktime would skip but in media player home classic, the 3rd party decoder works 170% more efficiently. Neither the hd, ram, proc, bandwidth, etc. or anything else would matter.
That’s the real problem and why vimeo and quicktime suck. The poorly programed decoder… -
woah, you said nothing about sound quality when there is no cloth noise. Professionals use hidden mics too.
One trick is to create two triangles of tape made inside out that sandwich the mic and isolate it from the actor’s clothes. You then place it in the chest cavity 5in below the mouth which has a natural space. -
in parametric eq 10 band, lower 100hz-500hz geometrically less the higher freqs, and add subtle reverb, which naturally comes from trees and hills echoing.
Also, you can add noise from wind in leaves rustling(very small amount)the actual db level would probably be a little lower too to seem more distant unless they are yelling.
Remember in a movie, not everything is 100% real as the viewer still needs to hear and understand the story.
I would rather have video I can’t see and good audio I can understand than visa versa, unless they are really good subtitles, jk. -

what about jpeg2000? it supports adaptive playback with layers upon layers of data to increase or decrease the decode quality on the fly using a single file. lower quality just ignores the sub quality layers. Used from everything from
