    Hi Wally,

This is the late 2005 PowerMac G5 series and they all have PCI-Express slots. There’s a single dualcore 2.0Ghz, single dualcore 2.3Ghz and dual dualcore 2.5Ghz model. There are 2 x 4 lanes and 1 x 8 lane PCI-Express slots which are all ok for the Kona LHe card.

    Check it out :

    I think it’s because FCP doesn’t support 720p25 yet.

Bypass the BOB and use the breakout cable that came with the LHe…this will confirm if the card or the BOB is causing the problem.

What is the Video Playback in FCP (Audio/Video Setting) set to ? It must be the same 720 format that you have set for your timeline. And set the Kona Control Panel to downconvert to SD.

What frame rate is this 720 timeline running coz downconvert doesn’t work on every frame rate.

Check the Kona Control Panel and make sure the analog output is set the Composite as it defaults to Component.

Even if it is set to Component, you should only see a monochrome output and not rolling around on screen.

Is the Format in Kona Control Panel set to 625i ?

Use the AJA System Test to see if your drive is fast enough to handle the format that you intend to work with.

    Hi Bob, Jeremy,

    Thanks for your advise.

My apologies…the project will be in 23.98psF instead of 24psF.

Bob, you mentioned that the VTR will convert to normal PAL frame rate for me. So if I edit and master to the HD VTR in 23.98psF format, I can then playback through the HD VTR and output a PAL HD output (and downconverted SD output) at 25fps ?

Are both the Sony HDCAM and Panasonic D5 VTRs capable of doing this ?
