I just did an update on a Kona LH system with FCP 6.0.4 and OSX 10.5.4 and am having issues with PAL SD 10bit Uncompressed capture.

It will prompt the error message :

Codec error. The image frame size may not be supported.

The AJA 8bit Uncompressed PAL SD capture preset is ok and I deleted the AJA 10bit Uncompressed PAL SD preset and made a duplicate of the AJA 8bit Uncompressed and changed the Compressor to 10bit and still no good.

Also when that message occurs, it will affect the AJA 8bit Uncompressed PAL SD capture as it will report of dropped frame. The workaround is to close and reopen the Log & Capture window.

Also, in the capture preset, if it change the Digitizer to AJA 10-bit Digitizer, I get a General Error error.

Anyone in PAL land seen this behaviour as well ?

I’m going to try on another system to see if it’s consistent.

    Hi Alex,

May I know where I can find info on the incompatibility between the Apple LSI FC HBA and the Infortrend A24F-G2430 RAID storage ?

    Hi,

Thanks for your suggestions. But can the user still access the “invisible” volume when they make a save in the Finder window ?

I’ve updated PPro to 3.1.1 and problem still there. The problem is that it takes very long to finish the capture in DV format after it go past the OUT point. It can be as long as 30 secs before the window appears for you to name the clip.

    Hi,

Forgot to add that if I do a manual capture, it is ok but the moment I use IN/OUT to capture, the problem will show up.

Again, I am capturing to DV format from the Decklink card where this problem shows up. If I capture as uncompressed 8bit format, I don’t have this problem.

I’ve just tried downgrading to 6.6.2 driver and still no good.

    Hi Jeremy,

How long does it take to transcode the DVCProHD to ProRes before it can go out to tape via the IoHD ?

If we’re using HD-SDI input on the IoHD on a Mac Pro (3Ghz or 3.2Ghz), can we safely capture it to DVCProHD or Uncompressed 8bit and 10bit HD ?

Is there any DVCProHD acceleration on the IoHD ?

Also, if we edit with DVCProHD materials, can we output to tape using the IoHD ?

Well I would say that for a $150K box and it doesn’t do a proper HD-SD downconversion, that would be completely utterly unacceptable.

    Hi Martin,

Sorry that I have contributed to the rumours as well. I was taking a shower this morning and went hmmm….

I mean no harm…I come in peace.
