Actually I have been using and promoting Vegas for many years, and in general, whenever I render a file for DVD I check the little box – include audio file, so I don’t have to deal with two separate files.

Everything was working like normal until this latest project. DVD Architect cannot properly read the files Vegas is rendering. The video file will import but appears as black and the markers for chapter points don’t load, and the audio file will not even import – If i try to import it DVD Arch just says importing file forever – (maybe something is wrong with DVD architect?)

I’m not sure what is wrong, but I will be continuing to try to figure it out as I really don’t want to have to start this edit over in Premiere or Final Cut.

I was really excited when I saw that you can transfer an entire edit into After Effects for additional tweaking. I am wondering how well this feature works? Do all the transitions, fades, automation envelopes etc show up in AE? I have been doing some edits that could benefit from this type of workflow and this was one of the features on my wish list. I’ll be downloading the trial version to try it out later today and if it works – I’ll be a happy camper! I skipped v11 but will be happy to upgrade to 12.

From what I understand Vegas was originally a DAW and it does support VSTs already – you can use loops with it but not with the flexibility of Acid – if they would add midi tracks that would be a big step in the right direction.

I sent in a request yesterday. It used to be that many software companies only wrote software for Windows because Mac owners were such a small minority – but that seems to be shifting.

The other thing I’ve suggested to Sony is to combine Vegas and Acid Pro into one product – it would be so cool to edit Vegas style and create custom soundtracks Acid style at the same time. I also think this would give them a unique product. I’d be using a lot less stock music for my clients.

August 4, 2012 at 7:10 pm in reply to: FCPX Newbie – is learning FCPX worth the time?

I’ll look at the training materials – but I did complete a simple edit in FCPX and I suppose I’m just scratching the surface – but for visual based editing on the fly this is a pretty cool way to work – I can see that this might tick some people off because it could be kind of like the drum machine for drummers – it really simplifies the editing process. It didn’t actually save me any time over my usual workflow but there were some things I liked about it and I can see how this could grow in popularity. Probably not the best tool if you have lots off footage that needs to be cut up to exact specs, but an interesting program.

  • Hey Matt,

I forgot to mention – yes I do have a graphic editing app – as a matter of fact I have the whole Adobe CS6 collection – I’ve got the tools just need to know what I’m doing with them

  • Hey Matt – Thanks for the reply. It seems to me that most websites have changed their designs over the last few years, I assume to accommodate smaller screens – my goal if it is possible – is to have a site structure that is primarily designed for larger monitors (since I do video for a living), but can adapt.

I actually saw a page on the cow a couple weeks back that had nice photo as a full screen background. The background, header and upper navigation remained stationary and as I was reading scroll bars appeared in the main content area and sidebars. It was clean and simple – and although pages load faster without background images – I can use them to promote my photography.

On my site I’ve been using a plug in by project seven to make base pages from (CSS page builder magic). All I really want to do is change the way the pages operate and make a better background image. I really appreciate your offer of help, I really want to get better at web design as I work on my sites

  • The compound file container does seem convenient for mutli-camera shoots – something I didn’t think of when watching the video.
