Sony Vegas for the Mac?
Posted by Christopher Key on August 30, 2012 at 8:07 pmI saw an ad that Sound Forge for the Mac is coming – does anyone know if Sony is porting all their apps for Mac? I sure hope so!

Hoping won’t get you as far as telling Sony directly on their Product Suggestion page. 😉

September 1, 2012 at 12:59 pmThe more people who request it, the better Sony can gauge the demand. Before Sony created Sound Forge for the Mac you could argue that they are not a Mac shop so it was a ridiculous request. Now that they are creating Mac software, everyone who wants to see Vegas Pro for Mac needs to let their voice be heard. Thanks to Sony for providing the vehicle to do it.

September 1, 2012 at 4:27 pmI sent in a request yesterday. It used to be that many software companies only wrote software for Windows because Mac owners were such a small minority – but that seems to be shifting.
The other thing I’ve suggested to Sony is to combine Vegas and Acid Pro into one product – it would be so cool to edit Vegas style and create custom soundtracks Acid style at the same time. I also think this would give them a unique product. I’d be using a lot less stock music for my clients.

Yea, this has been requested many times before. Vegas can already work with loops and tempos but they would have to add VSTi support and I wonder if that would destabalize the base. I’ve never seen an NLE that supported soft synths or a DAW that supported editing video. I’m not sure it’s such a good idea but maybe it is a “killer” idea just waiting to happen?

September 2, 2012 at 2:17 pmFrom what I understand Vegas was originally a DAW and it does support VSTs already – you can use loops with it but not with the flexibility of Acid – if they would add midi tracks that would be a big step in the right direction.
