yes I have tried capturing to both an internal and external drive – I think all my drives are WD and seem to have the same problem

I’m capturing HDV footage from a Canon Vixia HV30 through firewire – been using this set-up for years with no problems until a few months ago.

I’ve been doing some tests this morning to verify what is happening – the capture works fine on my Mac with FCP and worked fine with Premiere on my PC – so this is a problem with Vegas only it seems – and I did try the uninstall/ reinstall solution

Thanks for the reply – I have to look into the situation further as I don’t know much about Motion and/or video compatibility problems between Mac and PC. I assumed – incorrectly I think – that any professional motion graphics program would be required to output every type of video currently in use. (I may have been spoiled by working with Sony Vegas over the years)

My workaround was to use a still image seq instead of video for the titles and graphics and that worked.

I hope I will be able to utilize the capabilities of Motion in the new workflow I am trying to develop.

hmm interesting, why would that be? It always seemed to me that the audio and video are contained in a single file when I capture footage from my camera, and when I’m editing, unless I unlink the two and accidentally slide one around, they should remain in sync. I’ve never had any complaints or noticed sync issues in my work. Weird – I wonder if this is an issue with Vegas, or just some strange byproduct of the rendering process?

  • Thanks for the info – I just assumed it was a plug -in, I thought I saw a video of someone using it in After Effects? I regularly film live music events with multiple cameras so this seems like a great program for me to own.

Thanks Stephen – I will do that from now on – I prefer doing things correctly – sometimes I do render them separately, but that’s usually when the audio needs a little more work. I’ll make that a normal part of my workflow from now on.

And now that the render is done – it worked – I guess my graphics drivers had been corrupted somehow. DVD Arch imported the file and the chapter points like usual. Now I can move onto the next project YAY!

I just re-installed the drivers for my graphics card and did a little test on a small part of the project – and it worked!!! Maybe that was the problem? I hope so.

I will now re-render the entire project and report the results in a few hours when it’s finished.

  • I’d like to hear about any discounts for this as well – this looks like a super time saver!!! Will it work with Vegas? I thought Red Giant had discontinued support for Vegas.
