Ahh i see. Yeah might not work the way I was thinking then.. Can you do it via multiple tracks with the composite modes and mattes?
Haven’t tried tried. just a thought.

Cant you bring in the source then the matte channel? then separately grade them? then merge them at the end with a node effecting both?

Bring in the material then use the same matte you use for your comp to do an inside / outside key then once recombined down stream do a final overall correction for both.

  • I have used the MC Color and now have the wave. I am really looking at the Element and will wait till after NAB to see if BMD supports it. My guess is they will announce it then. BTW with the wave.. Less menu diving if you use the 2 button shortcut! Hit the up and down buttons at the same time and you can hit each menu section and jump right to it. I use that all the time.

Surprised they are not there at roll out. O.o though i suspect they will be hard coding it. They want uniformity in the layout i would guess. Its good and bad. I wish they would give up on doing it all themselves and use the provided SDK but I can see the advantage of making it all the same so that you can get fast on the board and use your muscle memory because things are always in the same spot.
I don’t know.. My guess is April at NAB. but would love it if it were sooner.

Yes.. though could you put the two cuda cards in the 16x slots and the ATI in one of the 8x slots?
Providing power or storage controller wasn’t the issue. i don’t’ think the decklink needs more then a 4x

Cause the main card hooked up to your computer display doesn’t do Cuda processing at all. Only the unconnected one does. So doesn’t matter if its a ATI or not at that point only the 4000 or the 470 would accelerate Resolve. Now if i could have an ATI in there hooked up to displays and then a 4000 and a 470 or (2) 470s then you would be much better off if it worked without an expansion chassis. But at this point can anyone confirm that there isn’t a way to get 3 cards in the mac pro directly?

To be clear here you have the 120 and the 470 only in there? Or do you also have the stock ati as well?
If its only the 120 and the 470 then.. how is that different then me using the ati 4770 and pairing it with the 470 card?
Only one will do processing in this case the 470.
Now if you managed to get the ATI and both nvidia cards in there then please let us know.

I sometimes toss one on when someone needs a different gamma curve for online vs. file distribution.
Youtube and such mess with the footage when compressing I have found.
