You can edit HD with a MBP. You’d be better off with a MacPro.
BUT, apple is way overdue for an update with the MacPro and may not even put out a new one. In which case a iMac would be a good choice.
Either way you need a raid for fast thru-put of video data.
Apple should drop something by April if you can wait.
If you feel strong about the portability (a need more than a want)
Then get the fastest one you can. Get an external raid box.

Masking out that christmas video is not worth all that effort.
You’re off to a good start. Bring down the whites, crush the blacks and bring in more red/orange to match the rest of the footage.

If your destination is youtube – go with a 720p sequence.
You’ll have room to move on your 1080 as a bonus.

You save the scene file you like on one of the cameras. Then load it on the others.

Check you magic bullet settings, reduce the color bit depth if you can.

In the Browser BEFORE you drag clips into a sequence, “control” click on the clips and select the audio option. There you can change to mono.
Then you’ll have left right split.

DVCPROHD is a thin raster HD format. Don’t worry about it.
Ingest the P2 material into the edit and all will be fine once editing.

If you’re using FCP, You would “Log & Transfer” the footage in.
It will be DVCPROHD.
Drop it into a Blank Sequence and FCP will match settings for you.

OR

Drop it into a 960×720 sequence and it will be fine. The editing sys. will display correctly.

Now go edit!

Put vids in sequence, DO NOT let FCP change sequence automatic for you.

Double click a vid in the sequence and then you can change the “scale” and “distort” options if needed.

Your size is very small and really not ideal.
Editing downloaded web stills is not ideal either.

For a Meeting??? Is this playing off the computer hard drive or a DVD?

If you have HD video and Low res stills – you got a mess.

Start with a Standard SD sequence, an easy setup like NTSC DV48k Anamorphic.

Make sure the frame rate and fields match the HD video.
Re-size the HD vid to fit in the sequence.
When the edit is done, change sequence codec to Prores 422.
Re-render all. Fully.
Export using current settings. Take that file into compressor to create your deliverables.
