Final Delivery target?

Generally jpeg is compressed and for delivery/web. Try using PICT/TARGA/TIFF/PNG versions.

the sequence is 320 x 180 16 x 9
mpeg4 compression

the jpegs are various sizes and were downloaded from a variety of sites and postings

Yes, I’m using HD video in the project and it’s for a meeting and youtube.

Sorry for the lack of info.. I hope this helps. I’m a producer who edits, not a full time editor, hence some technical info escapes me.

Your size is very small and really not ideal.
Editing downloaded web stills is not ideal either.

For a Meeting??? Is this playing off the computer hard drive or a DVD?

If you have HD video and Low res stills – you got a mess.

Start with a Standard SD sequence, an easy setup like NTSC DV48k Anamorphic.

Make sure the frame rate and fields match the HD video.
Re-size the HD vid to fit in the sequence.
When the edit is done, change sequence codec to Prores 422.
Re-render all. Fully.
Export using current settings. Take that file into compressor to create your deliverables.

I know I should have had the client send me all the pics instead of downloading them. I also download the vid from youtube.. so yes, it’s a mess.. but the client is not picky. but I’m pulling my hair out.
I’ll try your suggested settings. I can even restart the edit if need be since I’m early on.. and I’ll do my best to figure it all out… not sure how to resize the HD video..but I’ll figure that out.
and the playback mode can be decided by me and this will also be posted on youtube.

Put vids in sequence, DO NOT let FCP change sequence automatic for you.

Double click a vid in the sequence and then you can change the “scale” and “distort” options if needed.

I tried HD 960 x 720 settings for fun.. and it seems to work pretty well. I can throw out bad jpegs or resize them and re-import if I need them.

I’ll keep you posted and thanks again for your help.
