1080 59.94i (60i) is 29.97, there is nothing funky going on.

If you add an I/O card you could down-convert while laying out to tape, this would yield better results.

Try taking your 720p master to AME, and compressing to DV-PAL, Interlaced, lower fields.

Then import that file into APP and lay out to tape.

Draw a mask around the guy with a slight feather.
Put his video on track 2.
Create a new color matte.
Select the color white from next to the guy.
Put color matte on track one.

Nest.
Put the stills in a sequence.
Nest That sequence into another with the door mask.

Download the codec and install it on the Win machine.

You have a bit depth option when rendering, don’t think you have a color space option.

I thing when shooting on tape with that camera the 24p is inside a 29.97 stream. Your edit should perform the pull down.

APP will use temp/editing codec. It will always reference back to your original files when you export. So, choose the destination codec when exporting, that is where you have control.
