Ahh, see I thought you wanted the girl to CAST a shadow behind her.

I get it now.

Take it into AE. Add a light, add a pic of branch off screen in front of light, cast shadows.

Well, ripping a DVD to edit should be a last resort. DVD’s are heavily compressed.

Too bad v.6 couldn’t open one of the auto saved proj. I know what you’re going through.

When projs. start to get large it’s good practice to “save as” for another layer of protection. (I know, doesn’t help now)

What about an earlier back up of the proj.?
Before it was finished maybe?

Ya, As you found AVI will not work in FCP.

You did not mention if your footage was HD or not.

But, use Mpeg StreamClip to convert to QT’s.

Did you try enabling drop shadow on the object?

Double click the object in the sequence and turn it on under motion.

Get yourself some good compression software like “Episode”
Export your finished master out of FCP.

Drop that file into your compression program and create whatever format you need, like .mp4 or .m4v

Your refernce clip looks clean and is m4v, what is the question?

You’d probably have better luck editing in HD.
Export your finished master and then compress that for SD playback.

OR

Convert all your HD footage after capture in SD files and edit that.
